Protests and riots erupted in Minneapolis on Monday morning after a police officer allegedly fatally shot a man, numerous sources reported. The mother of 20-year-old Daunte Wright said her son called her Sunday afternoon and told her that police had stopped him for having air fresheners in his rear-view mirror, which is illegal in Minnesota, NBC News reported . “I heard police officers say, ‘Daunte, don’t run,’” Katie Wright told NBC News. Brooklyn Center police said officers had stopped a motorist at around 2 p.m. Sunday and tried to arrest the motorist after determining the individual had an outstanding warrant, according to the Associated Press . Chickens roaming the busy streets are a common sight in the city of Key West, however, the chicken population has become a nuisance, defecating all over the city and attacking pedestrians. Shares of cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase hit the stock market for the first time Wednesday, opening at $381 to give the company a nearly $100 billion valuation. Coinbase, a popular platform to buy and sell digital currencies such as Bitcoin, kicked off its initial public offering Wednesday on the Nasdaq composite and saw its share price skyrocket soon after launch. Coinbase shares rose as high as $425 before settling near $400 shortly before 2 p.m., well above the reference price of $250 estimated Nasdaq before the stock offering. NEW YORK (AP) — Major league umpire Joe West was awarded $500,000 in damages plus interest dating to July 8 in a defamation suit against former All-Star catcher Paul Lo Duca. New York Supreme Court Justice John J. Kelley issued his decision Monday in a lawsuit West filed in October 2019 against Lo Duca and The Action Network. The network was dismissed from the suit last July, when Kelley granted a motion by West for a default judgment against Lo Duca. West contended that Lo Duca said during an April 18, 2019, podcast on The Action Network that he had been ejected 15 times during his major league career and eight or nine had been by West. West’s suit claimed Lo Duca said during the podcast that when the player was catching Billy Wagner during a New York Mets game against Philadelphia in 2006 or 2007, West called three straight batters out on strikes.
