Photo: Getty Images The Washington Post’s Dan Balz is a justly esteemed political reporter and analyst, with a particularly strong expertise in presidential elections. The 2008 and 2012 “campaign books” he co-wrote were both sound guides to very complicated events. So when Balz introduces an analytical argument into 2020 presidential campaign coverage there’s a good chance it will be repeated by others and help shape the conventional wisdom. CHEROKEE COUNTY, GA — A Cherokee County man was recently sentenced for his part in a fatal car crash last year.District Attorney Shannon Wallace said that Allen McIntire, 63, entered a non-negotiated guilty plea and was sentenced for homicide by vehicle in the first degree, driving under the influence, reckless driving, speeding, and failure to maintain lane. McIntire was taken into custody on Dec. 3 to begin serving his sentence in the state probation detention center. The incident occurred on the afternoon of January 10, 2018 in White, GA, near the Bartow County line. That afternoon, Barry McMahon, 73, climbed into the passenger seat of McIntire's vintage Chevrolet Nova. McIntire then drove the car at an excessive speed on White Road, a narrow, winding road, where he failed to maintain his lane of travel, left the roadway, and crashed into a tree. The crash fatally injured McMahon. WISCONSIN — Health officials in Wisconsin are warning people about the dangers of synthetic cannabinoids, often called "fake weed", "K2", and "spice," as people continue to be hospitalized with severe bleeding after using these products which have been found to contain rat poison. The Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) Wisconsin is reporting that it has seen a total of 15 cases since March, with seven confirmed and eight probable. Counties with confirmed cases include Dane, Milwaukee, and Outagamie Counties. Illinois has reported 4 deaths from bleeding related to synthetic cannabinoids as of June 20, 2018."These dangerous products are still in the community and we urge people not to use K2, spice, or any synthetic cannabinoid," said State Health Officer Karen McKeown in a prepared statment.According to health officials, synthetic cannabinoids are not simply one drug, as is the case with naturally-harvested marijuana.
