A fatal SUV crash in southern California Tuesday that killed at least 13 people may be tied to a border wall breach by migrants entering the U.S. from Mexico, a U.S. official told The Associated Press Wednesday. The official, whom the AP reported had direct knowledge of the investigation, said that investigators believe that migrants had breached a border wall before an SUV carrying 25 people collided with a tractor-trailer a long State Route 115 in Holtville, Calif., not far from the Mexican border. According to the AP, the official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly, added that investigators are also looking into other migrants who reportedly crossed the border at the same time in an alleged smuggling operation. Slavery Reparations Approved by ‘Virtue Signalling’ Bristol City Council
The city council of Bristol has approved a motion calling for reparations for slavery as an act of “atonement” for the British port city’s role in the slave trade. The Labour Party-run council passed the motion by a margin of 47 votes to 12 on Tuesday following a zoom meeting of the councillors. The council agreed to implement “community wealth creation strategies” and to write to the British Parliament demanding the establishment of a commission to determine “how reparations may be delivered”. In a pecculiar act of so-called cultural appropriation, Cleo Lake — the Green Party councillor who led the motion — called upon the other remembers to support reparations by “representing” as US civil rights leader Rosa Parks in a mock American accent. “I believe we are here on this Earth to live, grow, and to do what we can to make the world a better place for all people to enjoy,” she said in a put-on accent while quoting Ms Parks. In a statement, the Bristol city council said that … [Read more...] about Slavery Reparations Approved by ‘Virtue Signalling’ Bristol City Council
