Broncos GM George Paton makes first move, releasing CB A.J. Bouye after one season
Broncos general manager George Paton executed his first major roster move Wednesday by releasing veteran cornerback A.J. Bouye. It may also turn out to be one of Paton’s easiest decisions. Bouye’s only year with the Broncos never got out of the blocks, beginning with a Week 1 injury and ending with a suspension. Acquired from Jacksonville last March for a fourth-round pick to replace Chris Harris, Bouye’s release creates $13,218,750 in salary cap space, according to Over The Cap. Bouye played 410 snaps in seven games, making 23 tackles and breaking up six passes. A shoulder injury cost him five games, followed by a concussion (one game) and his penalty for a positive performance-enhancing substance test (final four games).
