N.Y. DAILY NEWS brands itself on the cover as, “NEW YORK’S GO-JETS NEWSPAPER!” Good Saturday morning. QUERY: What will be in President Obama's State of the Union address on Tuesday? Story Continued Below ANSWER, per Obama advisers: The president will note that the makeup of the congressional audience before him is very different from a year ago, and will be blunt about the challenges facing the nation. He will sketch a strategy for winning the future, with both short-term and long-term plans for a foundation of competitiveness and innovation -- looking for growth opportunities by doing things differently and more effectively than in the past. He plans to emphasize issues where he thinks he can find COMMON GROUND with Republicans, including education, trade and fiscal responsibility -- cutting spending, reexamining regulations, and working toward more efficient and effective government. All that can strengthen our economy, is a way to work with Republicans, and fits … [Read more...] about STATE OF THE UNION TO STRESS PARTY COOPERATION, HOW U.S. CAN WIN THE FUTURE – Olbermann leaves MSNBC – Josh Earnest, Schnittger, Feist, Barkoff, Rob Collins b’days

DRIVING THE DAY -- DOUBLE HEADACHE FOR CHICAGO: --“ US economy added 69K jobs in May, fewest in a year,” by AP Economics Writer Christopher S. Rugaber: “U.S. employers created 69,000 jobs in May, the fewest in a year, and the unemployment rate ticked up. The dismal jobs figures could fan fears that the economy is sputtering. The Labor Department also says the economy created far fewer jobs in the previous two months than first thought. It revised those figures down to show 49,000 fewer jobs created. The unemployment rate rose to 8.2 percent from 8.1 percent in April, the first increase in 11 months. Driving the Day Good Monday morning. SIREN -- ALEX ISENSTADT: “White House squeezes Jeff Flake”: “The White House has met with at least three actual or prospective primary challengers to Arizona Sen. Jeff Flake in recent weeks, a reflection of Donald Trump’s strained relations with the senator and the latest sign of the president’s willingness to play hardball with lawmakers who cross him -- even Republican incumbents. Flake, a longtime Trump critic who refused to endorse the president during the 2016 campaign, is one of a handful of undecided Republican votes on the Obamacare repeal effort. He’s also one of the most vulnerable Republicans up for reelection in 2018. “Since taking office, Trump has spoken with Arizona state Treasurer Jeff DeWit, a top official on his 2016 campaign, on at least two occasions, according to two sources familiar with the talks. Since June, White House officials have also had discussions with former state Sen. Kelli … [Read more...] about WHITE HOUSE ‘squeezes’ Jeff Flake — No new timetable for health care vote — SECRET SERVICE v.
