The Giants will promote undrafted rookie cornerback Grant Haley to the 53-man roster, from the practice squad on Tuesday, an individual with knowledge of the team's plans tells NJ Advance Media. Haley, 5-foot-9 and 190 pounds signed with the Giants shortly after the NFL Draft, and finished the preseason with seven tackles and three pass breakups, before being released as the team trimmed the roster to 53 players last month. A physical cornerback, and special teams standout during his college career, Haley had a chip on his shoulder when he entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent. "One of the things about me is that I'm a tackler," Haley told NJ Advance Media prior to the preseason finale against the New England Patriots back in August. "I'm physical. Playing on the inside, or the outside, it's. Big-boy league. This is the NFL. That's just one of the things that is just going to help me in this process. Not shying away from contact is good. Whatever I can do, … [Read more...] about Giants promote CB Grant Haley to 53-man roster, waive Donte Deayon
FOXBOROUGH -- Dont'a Hightower picked up a crucial interception Sunday evening, aiding the New England Patriots as they limited the Kansas City Chiefs to three field goals in the first half of a primetime matchup. Behind the Pats strong defensive showing -- as well as a pair of touchdowns from Sony Michel and a score from Julian Edelmen -- New England entered into the half with a 24-9 lead over the Chiefs. After both the Chiefs and the Patriots got on the board with a field goal apiece to start the game, Pat Mahomes attempted a short pass up the middle to Travis Kelce. Hightower, however, was in the perfect spot to snag the pass and go for a 27-yard run. The Jacksonville Jaguars are 3-1 and sit in a first-place tie in the AFC South division with an offense that has topped 30 points twice in the past three games. Jacksonville has reached this point largely without star running back Leonard Fournette, instead leaning more on Blake Bortles and the passing game. Even after letting Allen Robinson walk in free agency, the Jaguars went into the 2018 season with ample firepower in young wide receivers Dede Westbrook, Keelan Cole. They also signed Donte Moncrief in free agency to bolster the position. Those efforts have paid off with a better, more efficient passing attack where Bortles can distribute the ball evenly across the field. But the system has been frustrating in fantasy football with Cole, Westbrook and Moncrief all taking their turns of fantasy relevance but lacking the consistency and trust necessary to be true factors in standard fantasy leagues. Westbrook and Moncrief turned in big Week 4 efforts, but can they parlay their … [Read more...] about Fantasy Football Minute: Are Dede Westbrook, Keelan Cole and Donte Moncrief usable in fantasy?
Ben Steele Milwaukee Journal Sentinel Published 12:53 PM EDT Oct 4, 2018 Donte DiVincenzo had a typical rookie experience during his NBA debut in the Milwaukee Bucks’ 116-82 exhibition victory over the Chicago Bulls at Fiserv Forum on Wednesday. There were some promising moments, some things to work on and also some lighthearted newcomer hazing. The 17th overall draft pick out of Villanova shot 1 of 9, including missing all 5 of his three-point attempts, but he added seven rebounds and six assists in almost 20 minutes. “It was fun to actually get out there and get the jitters out,” DiVincenzo said. “Just shoot and keep shooting. I was trying to affect the game in other ways.” DiVincenzo spoke in the Bucks’ spacious new locker room while wearing a gaudy, pink backpack. “John Henson got it for me (on Tuesday), so I got to carry it around all year,” said the rookie, who was also trying to figure out the team’s laundry … [Read more...] about Bucks rookie Donte DiVincenzo gets message to keep shooting
