In East Baton Rouge Parish, Friday, Trump’s motorcade drove through hard-hit communities, where ripped up carpet and flooring, furniture and the entire contents of homes were piled on the curb. People who were still mucking out their homes, in some instances, came out to wave at the motorcade with gloved hands dirty from their house-gutting work. He and Pence then met a group of volunteers at a Baptist church who have been cooking meals for flood victims and helping the elderly gut their homes.A torrent of about two feet of rain inundated the southern part of the state, devastating areas hit hard by Hurricane Katrina over a decade ago. OTAY MESA, California — President Donald Trump arrived at the U.S.-Mexico border early Tuesday afternoon to inspect the eight prototypes for the border wall he promised to build. It was the president’s first stop on his first visit to California since taking office, and came just days after the Department of Justice filed a lawsuit in Sacramento challenging the constitutionality of the state’s “sanctuary” laws. Trump was accompanied by Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen, and escorted by Chief Patrol Agent Rodney S. Scott, who oversees the San Diego sector of the border. He was also briefed by Jim O’Louhghlin, an official who works with the contractors and is considered the “subject matter expert” on the wall. President Donald Trump on Friday night visited doctors and nurses who treated victims of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting. The president traveled directly to North Broward Hospital from the Palm Beach International Airport, where he landed onboard Air Force One, along with U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, White House chief of staff John Kelly and first lady Melania Trump. "The job they've done is incredible and I want to congratulate you," Trump said as he shook a doctor's hand. The doctor was identified as Dr. Igor Nichiporenko. When asked, the president said he met with victims: "Yes I did. I did indeed." The Trumps paid their respects to medical personnel who treated some of the injured.
