Her mother went so far as to predict she would make a career of chatting with others "because," as Tischler says, "I don't stop talking very often." Tricia Courtney Tischler on 'The Denny Schaffer Show' on Q105.5 on Wednesday, March 21, 2018, at the Cumulus Building in South Toledo. She is retiring after proving to herself that her multiple sclerosis did not stop her from doing the job every day since Denny's return to Toledo radio in mid-September of 2014. After graduating from Bowling Green State University in 1987 with a degree in broadcast journalism, Tischler, who goes by “Courtney” on the air, has been talking on Toledo radio stations through much of the past four decades, beginning as a cub station reporter on WSPD-AM 1370, and most recently as one of four distinct voices … [Read more...] about Tischler signing off ‘The Denny Schaffer Show’
WORKING THEIR WAY BACK: JERSEY BOYSMaybe the impulse to create Jersey Boys sprang from the same artistic impulse that drove four otherwise normal kids to create those exquisite harmonies. Or maybe it was just business. At last count in 2015, the jukebox musical about the Four Seasons had entertained more than 165,000 people over the years in Tampa alone.Ruth Eckerd Hall, which typically books Broadway shows for one or two performances, is clearly anticipating a larger turnout, booking Jersey Boys for three performances over two days. Only Chicago (May 4-5) has more. 8 p.m. Friday, and 2 and 8 p.m. Saturday. 1111 N McMullen-Booth Road, Clearwater. $35 and up. Dennis Miller was just getting started after leaving the show in the early 1990s. By Kevin Modesti | [email protected] | Daily News PUBLISHED: March 27, 2018 at 5:43 pm | UPDATED: March 28, 2018 at 8:23 am Calvin Coolidge said, “I do not choose to run.” Lyndon Johnson said, “I shall not seek, and I will not accept, the nomination of my party for another term as your president.” Dennis Zine’s declaration that he is not a candidate for office is less straightforward. This is causing confusion and no small amount of concern among contenders for the Tuesday, April 3, special election for the California Assembly in the west San Fernando Valley. Although the former Los Angeles city councilman announced in February that he was dropping out of the 45th District Assembly race, his famous name remains on the ballot and it’s conceivable he’ll receive enough votes to qualify for a runoff or help to determine who does. Dennis D. Wise, an alleged hit man from Baltimore who was locked up for murder in 1979 and then accused of running a large-scale criminal enterprise out of the former Maryland House of Correction, has been released from prison after striking a deal with prosecutors.Wise — a notorious figure in Baltimore's criminal underworld, for whom the "Cutty" character on HBO's The Wire was named — was shipped to an Arizona prison nearly two decades ago. But he was released June 19 after an Unger hearing, in which city prosecutors agreed to a new sentence of time served plus five years probation.Under the agreement, the conviction stands, and Wise waives his right to challenge it. If he violates probation, he will be sent back to prison.Wise, now 66, does not deny that he was once deeply involved in crime.
