A property owner who was ordered by the city to rebuild an exact replica of a Twin Peaks home by a well-known architect after he illegally demolished it has filed a lawsuit challenging the decision, claiming it violates his civil rights. Two lawsuits filed in federal and state courts Thursday are seeking to overturn the Planning Commission’s decisions and asking for a total of $10 million in damages — the amount it would cost owner Ross Johnston to comply with the commission’s order to rebuild the Largent House by architect Richard Neutra at 49 Hopkins Ave., according to his attorney, Andrew Zacks. Cliff Sims suing President Trump over tell-all book
Cliff Sims, the former White House staffer turned tell-all author, has filed a lawsuit against President Trump.The suit, filed today in federal court in Washington, claims Trump is using his campaign as a “private surrogate” for the government “to do its bidding to silence Mr. Sims when it is really the intense powers of the presidency coming down upon a sole individual.”The New York Times was the first to report the suit. NYSEG plans to acquire, demolish house in Lockport coal tar cleanup
New York State Electric & Gas Corp., which this winter will dredge sediment contaminated with coal tar that leaked into the bed of the Erie Canal in Lockport, also plans to acquire and demolish a nearby three-unit dwelling as part of the project. The state Department of Environmental Conservation said tests have shown coal tar on property at 36 S. Transit St. and that further tests are planned in the vicinity. "There is no tar seepage in the house," NYSEG spokesman Kevin Ortiz said. "We are demolishing the house so we can refine our investigation."
