Indiana Democrat Joe Donnelly lost his Senate seat on Tuesday in a hard fought race against Republican businessman Mike Braun. Donnelly, who took the seat in 2012, lost the first Democratic Senate seat of the midterm election in a state of President Trump won by 19 points in 2016. Braun cast himself as an outsider and a staunch supporter of Trump, while claiming Donnelly was out of line with Indiana value by supporting abortion rights and other issues. “When you’re running against an incumbent and you’re running against the negative ads of Chuck Schumer, that has an impact,” Braun said in his closing message to WBIC. “But we’re gonna win it, and we’re gonna win it because our ground game is better.” … [Read more...] about Democrats lose first Senate seat of the night in Indiana

U.S. Sen.-elect Kyrsten Sinema, D-Ariz., declares victory over Republican challenger U.S. Rep. Martha McSally, Monday, Nov. 12, 2018, in Scottsdale, Ariz. Sinema won Arizona's open U.S. Senate seat in a race that was among the most closely watched in the nation, beating McSally in the battle to replace GOP Sen. Jeff Flake. (AP Photo/Rick Scuteri) (New York) -- A week after the voting, Democrats are riding higher than they thought on election night. As vote counting presses on in several states, the Democrats have steadily chalked up victories across the country, firming up their grip on the U.S. House and statehouses. But the Democrats, who hit political rock bottom just two years ago, have now picked up at least 32 seats in the House -- and lead in four more -- in addition to flipping seven governorships and eight state legislative … [Read more...] about More races go to Democrats, including Senate seat in ArizonaYou may also be interested in…

The latest smear on Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh is a disaster for Democrats, and everyone seems to know it except the party’s presidential candidates. No sooner had The New York Times published a new, unproven allegation of sexual misconduct by Kavanaugh than most of the candidates demanded Kavanaugh’s impeachment. “These newest revelations are disturbing,” Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., wrote on Twitter, adding “Like the man who appointed him, Kavanaugh should be impeached.” Sen. Kamala Harris, D-Calif., declared that Kavanaugh’s “place on the Court is an insult to the pursuit of truth and justice. He must be impeached.” Joining in with impeachment calls of their own were Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., South Bend, Indiana, Mayor Pete Buttigieg, former Obama housing Secretary Julián Castro and former Rep. Beto O’Rourke. Even former Vice President Joe Biden demanded that Congress open an investigation and … [Read more...] about Marc A. Thiessen: Democrats want to impeach Kavanaugh? Go for it!
