The Washington Post described Joe Biden as a “very Catholic President” who supports abortion, despite Church teaching condemning the practice as a heinous moral evil. “A rising group of right-wing U.S. Catholic bishops is colliding with a very Catholic president who supports abortion rights,” the Post posted online Thursday, in reference to the drafting of a document by the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) to clarify the issue of the reception of Holy Communion by public figures who promote abortion. The Post ’s choice of words was curious, to say the least, and seemed to reflect either ignorance regarding perennial Church teaching on abortion or a disingenuous attempt to cast all believing Catholics as right-wing fanatics. In its official teaching, the Catechism of the Catholic Church states : “From the first moment of his existence, a human being must be recognized as having the rights of a person — among which is the inviolable right of every … [Read more...] about WaPo: Biden Is a ‘Very Catholic President Who Supports Abortion Rights’
By Michael Hurley , CBS Boston BOSTON (CBS) — The only scientists in the world who believed the Patriots’ footballs were unnaturally deflated by a person are the same people who are the only scientists who were paid handsomely by the NFL to investigate that conclusion. READ MORE: Baby Otter Opens Eyes For 1st Time After Being Rescued From A Parking Lot And yet, despite dozens of scientists around the country putting in extensive work to prove them wrong, the folks at Exponent are spiking the football. “Now that Brady has accepted his punishment and is sitting out,” John Branch wrote, “Exponent is finally talking. And it wants everyone to know: It was right all along.” Strangely, The New York Times was more than happy to give Exponent a blank slate to create whichever record the company wanted, releasing a 5,000-word feature story that was heavy on the claims of Exponent and light on anything else. As a refresher, the NFL simply could not afford to be proven wrong in … [Read more...] about Exponent Boasts About Correct DeflateGate Conclusions In Bizarre New York Times Feature Story

The views expressed in this commentary are his own. View more opinion on CNN. (CNN) My son recently celebrated his third birthday. That day I was in awe of the sheer miracle of him -- his busy body, his yammering mouth, his effervescent joy. It reminded me of our first days with him, which were marked by sleep deprivation, frayed nerves, overwhelming anxiety and joy -- so much joy. Kyle Meyaard-Schaap And those memories have me thinking about climate change. As a father, Christian pastor and full-time climate organizer, climate change is rarely far from my mind. But now that President Joe Biden has made it the centerpiece of his legacy-defining American Jobs Plan -- with its investment in clean energy, its overhaul of our outdated energy … [Read more...] about The key word missing from the climate movement
Denver Post sports writer Mike Chambers responds to questions in the Avs Mailbag periodically during the regular season. Pose an Avalanche- or NHL-related question for the Avs Mailbag. As we get closer to the playoffs, I’m curious what your thoughts are about the modified regular-season schedule that has seen the Avs play only seven teams, meaning playoff matchups beyond the divisional rounds will be against other strong teams they haven’t seen at all this year. The Avs have certainly looked like the best team in the league over the past few months, but I’m a little worried that their outstanding regular-season record is partially a result of most of their games coming against five teams that they’re just clearly more talented than. Toronto, Tampa, Washington and several others will be much tougher competition. Any concerns that, aside from Vegas and maybe Minnesota, the Avs won’t be tested against other top-tier teams until the final playoff rounds? — Matthew, Denver … [Read more...] about Avs Mailbag: How long will it take Philipp Grubauer to get back in game shape?
