Dave Johnson, provided by Published 2:48 pm EDT, Friday, April 5, 2019 Hollis Johnson/Business Insider You can connect an iPad to a TV set with an AV (HDMI or VGA) cable. You can also connect your iPad to a TV wirelessly if you have an Apple TV. To do that, use the Screen Mirroring feature in the iPad's Control Center. By Meredith Moss, Staff Writer Don’t be surprised to find yourself getting into the act the next time you visit a museum. You may end up “becoming” Madame de Pompadour in an 18th-century painting, donning period costumes for a selfie or jotting down your personal reactions to a new exhibit. Sensory-friendly programs, geared to autistic children, are a growing trend. In many ways, the arc of his story is familiar, calling to mind that of better- known tech tycoons. Much like Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg and Steve Jobs, Pipkin is a college dropout. Just as Zuckerberg co-created Facebook in a dorm room, Pipkin, 50, launched his business, Belkin International – now an industry leader in connectivity products – from his parents’ garage in the Hollyglen neighborhood of Hawthorne. And much as Gates has made philanthropy a full-time obsession, Pipkin now spends a sizable chunk of his working hours on community service projects all over Los Angeles County, from improving squad cars with the L.A. County Sheriff’s … [Read more...] about South Bay’s Chet Pipkin may be the most famous tech mogul to come from Hawthorne
Last year, Jeremy Seedorf’s 9-year-old daughter and her classmates received tablet computers from their Lancaster County school. He wouldn’t let her bring one home: “The iPads were coming, and there was nothing we could do about it.” In the Neshaminy School District, Jessica Reeder was taken aback when she discovered that her daughter had to use the Internet to do her 1st-grade homework: “That was a little bit concerning to us.” Jennifer Lentz limits screen time at home for her sons, but she can’t stop the increasing amount they are getting in class at their Delaware County elementary school: “There are a lot of parents who feel like me. But I think they feel defeated.” Hadi Partovi might consider that a victory. Partovi, a tech entrepreneur and co-founder of the nonprofit Code.org, is leading a national effort to convince schools that more and younger is better when it comes to coding and computer science. … [Read more...] about Kindergarten coders: When is too early to put kids in front of screens?
