Congress Sends Landmark Gun Violence Compromise To Biden
WASHINGTON (AP) — The House sent President Joe Biden the most wide-ranging gun violence bill Congress has passed in decades on Friday, a measured compromise that at once illustrates progress on the long-intractable issue and the deep-seated partisan divide that persists. The Democratic-led chamber approved the election-year legislation on a mostly party-line 234-193 vote, capping a spurt of action prompted by voters’ revulsion over last month’s mass shootings in New York and Texas. The night before, the Senate approved it by a bipartisan 65-33 margin, with 15 Republicans joining all Democrats in supporting a package that senators from both parties had crafted. GOP House moves to require Library of Congress to use term ‘illegal immigrant’
NEW You can now listen to Fox News articles! The GOP-led House Appropriations Committee on Tuesday approved a plan to require the Library of Congress to describe undocumented people in the United States as “illegal immigrants” -- after the institution earlier this year removed the term “illegal alien” from search terms and cataloging. The library instead started using the term “noncitizens” and “un-authorized immigration,” a change congressional Democrats defended. The top Democrat on the House Legislative Branch Appropriations Subcommittee, Florida Rep. Debbie Wasserman, argued that the library should “continue with its process of choosing subject headings without political influence.” In March, the library said the term “illegal alien” had “taken on a pejorative tone in recent years” and that it could in fact refer to those from another planet. The 25-24 vote Tuesday in favor of Republicans was part of the legislative process regarding the approval of the … [Read more...] about GOP House moves to require Library of Congress to use term ‘illegal immigrant’
Setting gridlock aside, Congress set to OK gun violence bill
This is a carousel. Use Next and Previous buttons to navigate 6 WASHINGTON (AP) — A bipartisan gun violence bill that seemed unimaginable a month ago is on the verge of winning final congressional approval, a vote that will produce lawmakers' most sweeping answer in decades to brutal mass shootings that have come to shock yet not surprise Americans. The House was set to vote on the $13 billion package Friday, a month after a gunman massacred 19 students and two teachers at a Uvalde, Texas, elementary school. In Buffalo, New York, a white man authorities said was motivated by racism is accused of killing 10 Black grocery shoppers just days before Uvalde. The two slaughters — days apart and victimizing helpless people for whom the public felt immediate empathy — prompted both parties to conclude that Congress had to act, especially in an election year. After weeks of closed-door talks, Senate bargainers from both parties produced … [Read more...] about Setting gridlock aside, Congress set to OK gun violence bill

And if you are trying to build a cohesive military, why would you bring this in?” (RELATED: Former Trump Aide Unveils New Anti-Discrimination Program) WATCH: Judicial Watch obtained the materials via Freedom of Information Act requests, the organization said in a Monday release .
