School board member Michael Thomas was the lone dissenting vote. He did not explain his reasoning. Patch obtained the settlement through a public records request . The name of the student and the student's parents were blacked out because of state and federal educational privacy laws. Under the agreement's terms, the family is to receive a payment of $125,000. The family is also set to get $15,000 for a post-high school educational fund. The settlement does not indicate the nature of the claim. Kimberly DiFrancesco, in her 50s, pleaded guilty to the misdemeanor charge of parading, demonstrating or picketing in a Capitol building, the newspaper said. Trudy Castle of Chicago, who was with DiFrancesco, pleaded guilty to the same count. The women are believed to be related, according to federal court documents.
