There are two good reasons to move your search for a new home this fall a little farther south to some northern Colorado Springs neighborhoods — areas with very workable connections to south metro Denver. The first reason is the nicer scenery you’ll find here in communities close to the U.S. Air Force Academy; the second is a better smart-home package than you’ll likely get from any Denver-area builder. Effective right now, Classic Homes is offering its new Classic Connections Smart Home Package in the base price of every new-construction home with a start date of Nov. 9, 2019, and beyond, allowing you to choose whether you prefer a system built with Amazon Alexa technology (Echo Show/Echo Dot) or with Google Nest technology. Either way, each package includes a Wi-Fi system, along with smart doorbell features that allow you to check on visitors from your phone. And with either technology, you’ll also get a Schlage Sense smart door lock with Wi-Fi adapter, smart … [Read more...] about Well-connected: Colorado Springs builder Classic Homes has homes in easy reach of Denver, with Smart Home connectivity

Colorado Springs restaurant ordering AI company finds ideal fit for workers on the autism spectrum
A Colorado Springs company that operates an AI restaurant ordering service has found that one group that struggles to find work is a great fit for a key job that keeps its technology running smoothly: people on the autism spectrum. Synq3 Restaurant Solutions and its intelligent virtual assistant technology (or IVA for short) has been fielding phone orders placed at Chipotle Mexican Grill restaurants since May 2018. Broomfield-based Noodles & Co. uses the service as well, with several other major U.S. restaurant brands expected to start using it soon, Synq3’s CEO Steve Bigari said in mid-November. As the IVA service grows, so too does one job title at Synq3, the company’s “intent analysts.” And that means more opportunities for workers with autism. “What we’re finding is people who are on the spectrum are naturally drawn to it and naturally do incredibly well with it,” Bigari said of the positions, launched earlier this year.Analysts help … [Read more...] about Colorado Springs restaurant ordering AI company finds ideal fit for workers on the autism spectrum

The city has banned anyone from wading, swimming, boating and paddle boarding in the lake. Judge: Colorado Springs Planned Parenthood shooter still incompetent
COLORADO SPRINGS — A judge has ruled that a man who killed three people and injured nine others at a Colorado Springs Planned Parenthood clinic remains mentally incompetent to stand trial. The Gazette reports Monday’s ruling extends the legal limbo for 61-year-old Robert Dear, who is charged with 179 counts, including murder and attempted murder, in the November 2015 shooting in Colorado Springs. Dear didn’t attend the hearing because he is undergoing treatment at the state mental hospital in Pueblo. He was initially found mentally unfit for trial in May 2016, when a judge determined he was too delusional to understand the charges against him or to assist in his defense. That judgment has been affirmed at 90-day intervals since then. Colorado law allows Dear to be held indefinitely on suspicion of first-degree murder while undergoing treatment. … [Read more...] about Judge: Colorado Springs Planned Parenthood shooter still incompetent
