George Robinson Nashville Tennessean Published 6:00 AM EST Feb 5, 2019 The equivalent of a rock star walked into Whitehaven High's football facility last week to take a look at the kind of high-profile athletes the Tigers' program has been producing. Alabama football coach Nick Saban arrived in Memphis as part of his recruiting visits to high schools across the country. He was one of a revolving door of college coaches who pass through high school hallways throughout Tennessee, talking with prep coaches. "It's every day," said Whitehaven coach Rodney Saulsberry, who has sent 44 players to FBS schools in the last 15 years. "College coaches are here nearly every day. Sometimes there are four or five coaches, from different schools, who come through wanting to know a little bit about our kids." It's all part of the national recruiting machine. As the high school football seasons come to a close, college recruiters hit the road. John Adams Knoxville News Sentinel Published 6:35 AM EST Dec 20, 2018 Dim the recruiting stars. Forget the rankings. Cornerbacks Bryce Thompson and Alontae Taylor helped a troubled secondary. Jerome Carvin was a part-time starter at offensive guard. And junior college transfer Dominick Wood-Anderson … [Read more...] about UT Vols: Tennessee football recruiting class must help Jeremy Pruitt

Khari Thompson Memphis Commercial Appeal Published 6:46 PM EDT Oct 11, 2018 HORN LAKE, Miss. — Nakobe Dean loves his name because he doesn't have to share it. When he was younger he would spend time on Google and Facebook searching for it, just to make sure he still had it all to himself. He has never met another Nakobe. The Horn Lake senior is the top-rated inside linebacker in the nation for the Class of 2019, according to the 247Sports composite ranking, the top-rated player in Mississippi and the No. 15 player overall in the nation. But he's also a straight-A student and mentors at-risk youth in his hometown of Tunica, Mississippi. "It's almost like he's a kid that's living his teenage years for the second time, because you think about you and I if we were 17 again how we would do things," said Horn Lake coach Brad Boyette. "But that's the way he is. You know how the typical 17-year-old might be looking to lay down and eat a bag of chips or something like … [Read more...] about College football recruiting: Nakobe Dean of Horn Lake top inside LB
