(CNN)As the coronavirus pandemic continues to fuel uncertainty and anxiety, how it impacts our mental well-being is hard to ignore -- something athletes, bereft of competitions and regular training routines, perhaps know better than most. For Colleen Quigley, a 3000-meter steeplechase runner from the United States, there's some relief that she "discovered mental health" a year and a half ago. The revelation has not only helped her to face the challenges of canceled track meets and a disrupted schedule, but also to become a better athlete. "Only in 2019 did I start realizing that my mental health affected my physical health, and if I kept ignoring that, I was going to be missing out on so much of my potential as an athlete," Quigley tells CNN Sport. (CNN)Text messages prior to the doomed helicopter flight that killed NBA star Kobe Bryant and eight others show that weather conditions were a concern, and records show that the pilot appeared to become disoriented in fog. Bryant, his 13-year-old daughter and seven others on the aircraft were killed as they headed to a youth basketball game on a foggy January morning. Weather and visibility were critical to the accident, a performance study from the National Transportation Safety Board pointed out in newly released documents. Before every flight with Bryant, a group text was always created in order to keep everyone in communication about the flights. That group text mentioned weather concerns prior to the flight, but they were dismissed by both the pilot and the flight coordinator. The conversation … [Read more...] about Pre-flight texts warned of weather and records show Kobe Bryant pilot became disoriented in fog
