CNN anchor Brianna Keilar said Friday on her show “Newsroom” that Fox News Channel host Tucker Carlson’s show was “partisan junk food.” Keilar said, “Fox, facing a ratings slump after its de facto executive producer lost the presidential election, is leaning more heavily into its buffet of cultural war cuisine. I know it’s about as predictable as singing Girls Just Wanna Have Fun really badly on karaoke night, and it’s predictably hypocritical to boot.” In a video from his Fox News show, Carlson said, “M families are the core of this country. They are the hope for the future, our only hope. Yet both parties have shamelessly abandoned them. Republicans tend to be their champion. You know now that they are not. Instead of improving the lives of the voters, the party feeds them partisan junk food designed to make them feel full even as they waste away. It is lunacy. We fall for it every time. And given this show has participated in it, we apologize deeply.” Keilar said, “To the … [Read more...] about CNN’s Keilar: Tucker Carlson’s Show Is ‘Anti-Truth,’ ‘Partisan Junk Food’

Hawley: ‘Democrats Have Made American Workers Compete with Slave Labor’
Friday, during an appearance on FNC’s “Fox News Primetime,” Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) discussed why Republicans lost Georgia and other elections throughout the country. As a remedy, he urged the GOP to embrace working people. The Missouri Republican argued a proper contrast would be for Republicans to compare approaches to trade, in which Democrats have supported policies that force the United States to compete with nations that engage in unfair labor practices. “Well, how about bringing jobs back to our urban core from overseas?” he said. “Why don’t we start there? Why don’t we start with the disastrous trade policies and economic policies that the liberals in step with a big corporation have pursued for 30, 40 years and who’s been hurt most, working folks, African Americans working folks, Latino working folks, white working folks, Asian working folks, you name it. They’re the ones whose communities have suffered as these jobs have been shipped off to China. As these jobs have … [Read more...] about Hawley: ‘Democrats Have Made American Workers Compete with Slave Labor’
Sanders on the Filibuster: We Can’t Have GOP ‘Obstructing What the American People Want’
Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) said Friday on MSNBC’s “Andrea Mitchell Reports” that Senate Democrats should end the filibuster rule requiring 60 votes to end debate and pass bills. Mitchell said, “Senator, we’ve been talk here today about issues like climate change, like immigration reform, like the George Floyd bill. All of these pieces of legislation that are going to get through the House, not that comfortably given the margins, but get through the House and die in the Senate unless something is done because no matter how popular they are. That’s what’s so striking about this. And if you’re facing that kind of a roadblock, is it time to rethink the filibuster?” Sanders said, “If we cannot get Republican support in one way or another, we’ve got to go forward. Now, you asked me about the filibuster. It is my position absolutely that democracy has got to prevail in the United States Senate. We cannot have — continue to have minority who are obstructing what the American people … [Read more...] about Sanders on the Filibuster: We Can’t Have GOP ‘Obstructing What the American People Want’
Kaine: I Won’t Elevate ‘Arcane’ Filibuster over Keeping Campaign Promises
On Friday’s broadcast of CNN’s “Cuomo Primetime,” Sen. Tim Kaine (D-VA) discussed the filibuster and stated that “it’s not a hard call for me, if I have to choose between meeting promises and doing what Americans want versus upholding arcane Senate rules that can easily be changed.” Kaine said, “[M]y constituents, Chris, in Virginia, they don’t ask me about Senate rules. They say, can you raise the minimum wage for gosh sake? … Can you do something about gun safety? Can you do immigration reform? … And my goal is, I promised folks that if we got a Democratic majority, we would get results for them and I’m not going to let form be elevated over substance. So, we’re going to do the substance. We’re going to try to get Republicans on board. We’re going to listen to them and incorporate their ideas. They’re going to make their own strategic call. But I’m not personally going to elevate arcane Senate rules over meeting promises.” He added, “I think you’re right, we’re probably going … [Read more...] about Kaine: I Won’t Elevate ‘Arcane’ Filibuster over Keeping Campaign Promises
GOP Rep. Tenney: Harassment Claims Shouldn’t ‘Overshadow’ Cuomo Covering up Nursing Home Deaths
On Saturday’s broadcast of the Fox News Channel’s “Fox & Friends,” Rep. Claudia Tenney (R-NY) stated that the sexual harassment charges against New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo shouldn’t “overshadow” the nursing home scandal, and on the sexual harassment charges, “there is due process. But these people who died in nursing homes aren’t getting their due process right now.” Tenney said, “I don’t want any of this to overshadow how serious the cover-up of the nursing home scandal is, and the falsification of records, which has just been revealed by a Wall Street Journal article, that Gov. Cuomo’s staff and Gov. Cuomo, and certain[ly] his entire inner circle was aware of this, have covered up the tragic deaths of nursing home residents and his failed policy, all while he was writing a book about his great leadership during this period of time. So, I do take these sexual harassment cases seriously, but there is due process. But these people who died in nursing homes aren’t getting their … [Read more...] about GOP Rep.
