By: KDKA-TV News Staff PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – The Penguins and General Manager Ron Hextall announced on Saturday that they have named Chris Pryor as the team’s director of player personnel. The Bachelor ‘s Rachael Kirkconnell took to Instagram on Thursday to respond to the “racism” controversy, which included attending an “Old South”-themed party in 2018 dressed up as a Native American. In a video, Kirkconnell, told her fans to “please stop” defending her, adding, “My ignorance was racist.” “I think that the first big step in all of this is white people stepping up and taking accountability. Activists aboard the Greenpeace ship Esperanza are said to have dropped several large boulders into the English channel in an effort to stop bottom-trawling fishing in a protected area favoured by French boats. The ecological activist group tossed 18 boulders overboard in the channel in order to create a barrier and prevent trawling by fishermen who use a bottom-trawling method to scrape the seabed, which Greenpeace has likened to taking a bulldozer to a national park. According to reports , the area impacted is one used by French ships. The group announced the formation of the “boulder barrier” on Twitter on Friday, and later released a full statement on their website saying, “This barrier will stop destructive fishing in what’s supposed to be a protected part of the ocean. Northern Colorado and the Western Slope will claim larger shares of Colorado’s population as the state adds 3 million new residents over the next three and a half decades, according to state forecasts. Greeley and Fort Collins will more than double in population and the Western Slope will grow by two-thirds by 2050, the State Demography Office predicts, while Denver, Boulder, Pueblo and the central mountain resorts will grow at slower rates. Also, El Paso County will overtake a built-out Denver County as the state’s most populated. Between 2015 and 2050, Colorado will add the equivalent of another metro Denver, on its way to 8.46 million residents. Though it’s a lot of people, the state’s rate of growth actually is predicted to slow during that period as the baby boomer generation moves on. State and local officials use the forecasts to plan for growth, a hot topic as Colorado’s roads, housing market and environment strain from an influx of out-of-state migrants.
