Central Intelligence’s co-writer and director Rawson Marshall Thurber has dismissed the chances of a sequel to the action-comedy, even though they have a really cool, fun idea for a follow-up.“We had a really cool idea for the ‘Central Intelligence’ sequel. Culture A Wrinkle in Time Director Ava Duvernay has finally done what many said was impossible: Adapt the 1962 classic children's novel, A Wrinkle in Time, for the big screen. While the reviews are mixed for Duvernay's film, the opening weekend box office—$33 million—signifies at least some level of success. A made-for-TV film, also by Disney, was attempted in 2003. Before her death in 2007, author Madeliene L'Engle told Newsweek the film met her low expectations: "I expected it to be bad, and it is." This time around (for better or for worse), DuVernay and screenwriters Jennifer Lee and Jeff Stockwell made several changes to L'Engle's beloved text. Retired Navy Adm. Stansfield Turner, the iconoclastic director of the Central Intelligence Agency in the late 1970s who significantly reorganized its clandestine ranks and helped usher in a new technological age at the agency, died Jan. 18 at his home in Seattle. He was 94. His secretary, Pat Moynihan, confirmed the death but did not disclose the cause. An Oxford-educated Rhodes scholar, Adm. Turner was long considered to be one of the Navy’s sharpest analytical minds and brashly confident leaders. He was a four-star admiral and commander of NATO forces in Southern Europe when he was tapped in 1977 by President Jimmy Carter, a Naval Academy classmate, to lead the U.S. intelligence community.
