Progressive groups were hoping to make this month “Impeachment August,” but with only 12 days to go, they are falling short of their self-stated goals. Twelve progressive groups joined together to launch a campaign on August 1 with a goal to pressure House Democrats to come out in support of President Trump’s impeachment. While the American public remains deeply divided on impeachment, Democrats overwhelmingly support it.The groups had planned to pressure their representatives at town halls and other public appearances after they returned to their districts for the August recess, in hopes of getting them to back impeachment if they had not done so already. PHILADELPHIA (CNN) — Text messages received overnight on Wednesday caused confusion, misunderstandings and even alarm for some recipients. The text messages appear to have originally been sent on Feb. 14, Valentine’s Day but were received more than eight months later with Wednesday’s timestamp. The total number of messages sent due to what’s being called an “internal maintenance cycle” was 168,149, according to Syniverse, which provides technology and business services for a number of telecommunications companies. The issue occurred across all four major carriers in the United States and affected both Apple and Android devices. People shared their experiences about receiving delayed messages on social media and Reddit. Some said they received text messages from ex-boyfriends and ex-girlfriends that led to awkward conversations. Others said the messages came from relatives or friends who had since passed away. Salem claims his Legal Aid attorneys did not inform him that his bail was reduced from $50,000 to just $1. Although Mayor Bill de Blasio released plans last week to close the city’s notorious jail complex within a decade, 9,400 detainees are still being held at the facility critics deem inhumane. From November 28, 2014 to April 15, 2015, Salem was one of them.. He’s now suing the city of New York and his “negligent” Legal Aid attorneys, among others, in Manhattan federal court for “unlawful incarceration and restraint of liberty,” according to the suit filed Monday.
