ANAHEIM (CBSLA) – Disney Parks, Experiences and Products announced Wednesday proposed plans for a phased reopening of the Disneyland Resort stating that the theme parks could open as early as July 17. Pending state and local government approvals, Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa and Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel plans to reopen on July 23, and Disneyland and Disney California Adventure park will plan to reopen on July 17. Attendance will be managed through a new theme park reservation system that will require all guests, including Annual Passholders, to obtain a reservation for park entry in advance. New York (CNN Business)Some Disney fans will finally have the chance to return to the California Adventure Park next month for a limited-time experience, about a year after the entertainment giant's theme parks closed because of the pandemic. Disneyland Resort President Ken Potrock announced the plan Monday in a letter to workers sent in honor of California Adventure's 20th anniversary. Disney (DIS) is not yet permitted by the state to fully reopen all of the park's attractions, so the event won't be like typical visits to a theme park. Instead, the park will offer guests food and beverages, merchandise and "carefully crafted entertainment experiences," Potrock said in the letter, which was reviewed by CNN Business. With this initiative — as well as the recent restart of outdoor dining in Downtown Disney after California's stay-at-home order was lifted last month — around 1,000 Disney cast members will be able to return to work. ORLANDO (CBSMiami) – A fire was spotted on a ride at Universal Orlando’s Islands of Adventure Friday morning. They said that they heard a lot of shouting and saw thick black smoke rising into the sky. They added that the fire was put out rather quickly. (credit: Joshua Sudock/Disneyland Resort) “A Touch of Disney” will be a limited-capacity taste of California Adventure Park starting on March 18, on Thursdays through Mondays from noon to 8 p.m. Introductory $75 tickets will include admission, parking, unlimited downloads of Disney photos taken by park employees, and a $25 dining card that can be used for food and non-alcoholic beverages.
