CAMDEN, N.J. (CBS) — Officials in South Jersey are working to dispel COVID vaccine fears in the Latino community. With the help of bilingual volunteers, Camden leaders hope to educate residents in a community that’s already been hit hard by the coronavirus. “Participation from the Latino community is extremely low,” Camden County Commissioner Carmen Rodriguez said. Rodriguez says the county is operating its vaccination clinics at full capacity but realizes the disparities in inoculations. MODESTO (CBS13) — Modesto police said they decided to do some spring cleaning this week – the type of cleaning that involves breaking up a large illegal marijuana and gun sales operation. Investigators said they recently developed some information about an alleged drug and firearms sales operation in Modesto. The raids led to officers confiscating a total of about 80 guns. According to data from the healthcare provider , operating revenues increased by 12% to $23 billion, and UPMC had an operating income of $836 million in 2020. UPMC Health Plan membership increased 11%, but the healthcare provider did experience some financial difficulties in the first year of the pandemic, with outpatient revenue having decreased by 3% and physician revenue dropped by 5% in 2020. LOS ANGELES — In a career filled with remarkable comebacks, Tiger Woods faces perhaps his toughest recovery of all. Woods was driving alone through a sweeping, downhill stretch of road through coastal suburbs of Los Angeles when his SUV struck a sign, crossed over a raised median and two oncoming lanes flipped several times before coming to rest on its side. Its airbags deployed. A sheriff’s deputy poked his head through a hole in the windshield to see Woods, still wearing his seatbelt, sitting in the driver’s seat. The crash caused “significant” injuries to his right leg and he underwent what was described as a “long surgical procedure” at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center. Anish Mahajan, the chief medical officer, said Woods shattered tibia and fibula bones in multiple locations. He suffered “open fractures,” meaning the skin was broken. Northern Colorado and the Western Slope will claim larger shares of Colorado’s population as the state adds 3 million new residents over the next three and a half decades, according to state forecasts. Greeley and Fort Collins will more than double in population and the Western Slope will grow by two-thirds by 2050, the State Demography Office predicts, while Denver, Boulder, Pueblo and the central mountain resorts will grow at slower rates. Also, El Paso County will overtake a built-out Denver County as the state’s most populated. Between 2015 and 2050, Colorado will add the equivalent of another metro Denver, on its way to 8.46 million residents. Though it’s a lot of people, the state’s rate of growth actually is predicted to slow during that period as the baby boomer generation moves on. State and local officials use the forecasts to plan for growth, a hot topic as Colorado’s roads, housing market and environment strain from an influx of out-of-state migrants.
