David Shor on Why Trump Was Good for the GOP and How Dems Can Win in 2022
He made America’s representative institutions greatly biased in favor of Republicans. Photo-Illustration: Intelligencer Photo: REUTERS/Yuri Gripas In the United States, every season is campaign season. Four months after America last went to the polls, Democrats are still refining their autopsies of the 2020 race and already governing with an eye toward the 2022 midterms. Denver drivers are wasting $2,000 a year thanks to poor road conditions, traffic study finds
You can do a lot with an extra $2,000 in your pocket, and that’s about how much Denver drivers are squandering per year on excess wear, tear and wasted traffic hours in their vehicles. According to a recent study by Washington, D.C.-based national nonprofit transportation research group The Road Information Program , crumbling infrastructure is hurting motorists’ wallets. The 50-year-old group published its “ Keeping Colorado Mobile Report ” on Tuesday. It describes that the average Denverite is losing $1,242 as a result of spending 62 hours stuck in traffic, which wastes an additional 26 gallons of fuel annually. Analysts found 22% of Colorado’s roads are in poor condition, and 25% are rated as mediocre. In Denver, 37% of major local and state roads are in poor condition and another 26% are in mediocre shape. That’s another $732 on average to the regular driver repairs and lost time. “The new TRIP report reinforces one simple fact: too many Coloradans are wasting too much … [Read more...] about Denver drivers are wasting $2,000 a year thanks to poor road conditions, traffic study finds

NORTH TEXAS (CBSDFW.COM) – The real estate market in DFW is so competitive, some buyers are taking big risks to make sure their offer is accepted. “Going to an open house sometimes feels like you’re pulling up to a party,” said Rachel Laviola. READ MORE: Mesquite Man Wins Big On Texas Lottery 'Weekly Grand' Scratch Ticket, Takes Home Nearly $900K She and Masud Zair have spent the last several weeks looking at available homes near their jobs in Collin County. Neither was prepared for the competition among buyers. “We didn’t expect it to be like, ‘there is one new house every day and if you don’t look at it immediately it will be gone,’” said Zair. That was the atmosphere outside a home in Frisco recently: vehicles lined the streets while perspective buyers milled around outside, all waiting to take their tour. The home had hit the market hours earlier. Over the next two days it was shown 91 times and the sellers received 39 offers. The winning buyer offered cash with no home … [Read more...] about Buyers Taking Big Risks To Win In DFW Housing Market
