BOSTON (CBS) — The Celtics are slumping, sitting at .500 on the season with a trio of losses to bad teams over the last week. They’ve lost five of their last seven, and just haven’t looked like a very good team for most of the season. After Sunday’s lifeless loss to the dreadful Washington Wizards, The Boston Globe’s Gary Washburn said that Boston looks like a team that is tuning out its coach. Celtics president of basketball ops. Danny Ainge admits that the team has plenty of issues, but is adamant that Stevens is not one of them, and he doesn’t believe that players are tuning out Stevens based on what he sees every day. Celtics Really Need Kemba Walker To Shake Off His Scoring Woes
By Matthew Geagan, CBS Boston BOSTON (CBS) — The Celtics have issues this season. Many of them. One of the most glaring and obvious is Kemba Walker’s struggles since his return in mid-January. RELATED: You Can Cross Taylor Heinicke's Name Off List Of Potential Patriots Quarterbacks After missing the start of the season as his left knee recovered from stem cell injections to help nine years of wear and tear, Walker has not looked like his usual self. He lacks that quickness that allowed him to beat defenders to the rim, and he has no bounce when he does get to the basket. It’s pretty problematic for an undersized guard when he takes on opposing bigs. It’s led to a lot of rejection for Walker. He had four of his 12 shots blocked during Tuesday night’s loss in Utah, including one at the three-point line. Since his return, 14 of Walker’s 140 shot attempts have been turned away. And those rejections are really messing with his mind. Walker missed all six of his shots from … [Read more...] about Celtics Really Need Kemba Walker To Shake Off His Scoring Woes
It’s OK To Feel A Bit Positive About Celtics After A Big Win Over Nuggets
By Matthew Geagan, CBS Boston BOSTON (CBS) — The anger was flowing among Celtics fans on Sunday afternoon, and rightfully so. The team was blown out during a lifeless effort against the lowly Washington Wizards, the team’s second straight loss to a bottom barrel team. RELATED: An Error On MLB's Website Led To Some Red Sox Number Drama With Martin Perez, Jason Varitek There were calls for both Danny Ainge and Brad Stevens to lose their jobs. Jayson Tatum was a bum and a bust, and no one else on the team was worth a darn. The season was lost. There is no way this Celtics team should ever get blown out by a team like the Wizards, a team with just eight wins, especially not after a wake-up call loss against the Detroit Pistons two nights prior, another team owns just eight wins on the season. So the anger was a bit warranted. But it was also a bit of an overreaction. A slump brings out the worst in fans and the Celtics were certainly slumping, with Sunday’s loss the bottom of … [Read more...] about It’s OK To Feel A Bit Positive About Celtics After A Big Win Over Nuggets
Just Another Dip In The Celtics’ Roller Coaster Of A Season
By Matthew Geagan, CBS Boston BOSTON (CBS) — It’s just not worth getting frustrated by the Boston Celtics on a nightly basis. This season has been a true roller coaster of emotions, and that will likely continue the rest of the way. RELATED: Roche: A Few Reasons To Feel A Little Optimistic About The 2021 Red Sox As most have come to realize throughout the ups and downs and dips and loops of the first 28 games, the Celtics are just not a very good team. They’re pretty solid on some nights, they’ve shown some fleeting flashes of greatness on others, but they’ve been downright dreadful far too many times. In Wednesday night’s loss to the Atlanta Hawks, they were somewhere in between — not quite dreadful, but nowhere near good enough to beat an 11-win team. Most of that good juju from Tuesday night’s win over the Nuggets is now forgotten, as the Celtics dipped back to .500 on the season with a 122-111 loss to the Hawks. Another Brutal Loss From The Painstakingly Mediocre Celtics
By Matthew Geagan, CBS Boston BOSTON (CBS) — The disturbing trend of hopelessness continued for the Boston Celtics on Sunday, as the team blew a 24-point lead in the second half to the New Orleans Pelicans.
