A Colorado teenager was one of two people arrested in the fatal shooting of a Denver mom who was driving home from dinner with friends over the weekend when she was struck in the head, according to officials and reports. The 14-year-old boy, who was otherwise unidentified because of his young age, and an 18-year-old named Neshan Johnson were charged in connection with the shooting of 32-year-old Pamela Cabriales on Saturday, Feb. 20, in the area of Colfax Avenue and Interstate 25 in Denver, District Attorney Beth McCann announced Monday. JACKSON, Miss. (AP) — The Mississippi House voted Wednesday to ban transgender athletes from competing on girls’ or women’s sports teams in the state’s schools and universities. The bill heads to Republican Gov. Tate Reeves in the next several days, and he is expected to sign it into law. Mississippi is one of more than 20 states with lawmakers proposing restrictions on athletics or gender-confirming health care for transgender minors this year. Democratic President Joe Biden signed an executive order Jan. 20 — the day he took office — that bans discrimination based on gender identity in school sports and elsewhere. “Girls deserve to compete on a level playing field,” Republican Rep. A group of high school senior baseball players in California found themselves in hot water after posing for a photo without masks. The John Burroughs High School varsity team had been scheduled to begin conditioning work on March 1, but the team had to delay those plans after Burbank Unified School District Superintendent Matt Hill handed down a two-week suspension in response to the maskless photo. Hill explained his decision in an email to the Los Angeles Daily News : We had a group of players and families dress up in uniform and take pictures on campus in violation of health orders (no masks, no social distancing, and mixing of families).
