10-month-old UK baby boy saves sister’s life with bone marrow donation

An adorable baby in the UK has become a hero after saving his sister's life. The heroic little boy, Jacob Davis, 10 months old, donated his bone marrow to rescue his dying big sister. Seren-Rose Davis, 2, suffered from an extremely rare disease mucopolysaccharidosis, or MPS, which delayed her development and would have caused her to slowly deteriorate. The only way to save her life was a bone marrow transplant. Little Jacob was found to be a perfect match for his sister. With the successful transplant, Jacob has saved her life. "I am so proud of Jacob and I cannot wait for the day when Seren will understand what he has done for her,’ said proud mother Elouise Davis, 26, from Colchester, Essex. “Jacob was so small when we first considered the bone marrow transplant, but we knew he would be just fine,” she said. “I knew it was a risk but it was definitely one worth taking. Without the transplant there was only one path that Seren was going to go down.” She proclaimed. “Seren has got a better future ahead of her; it is just amazing.” Jacob was 8 months old when his parents learned he was a perfect match for Seren. Jacob Davis, right, and big sister Seren-Rose, left, are shown in the hospital when the baby boy saved the little girl with a bone marrow donation. "We were assured the procedure for him was fairly straightforward, and the risk minimal,” Davis said. "A sibling donor would give Seren the very best chance of a successful transplant.” At age 6 months, Jacob “had been hitting all of his milestones,” his mom recalled. "He was very healthy and we knew he would bounce right back (from the transplant procedure). I did a lot of research into the risks for Jacob because my main concern was his safety, but the risks for him were minimal,” she said. "People sometimes think he has been born to save his sister but that wasn't the Continue Reading

Baby boy tumbles seven stories from Paris Apartment … and lives!

A stroke of luck saved this baby's life. An 18-month-old baby boy fell seven stories in Paris before bouncing off a cafe awning and into the arms of a quick-thinking passerby, police said. The Parisian toddler was playing with his 4-year-old sister while their parents went for a stroll Monday, a French holiday, when he fell out of the seventh-floor apartment window. A young man saw the baby tumble out the window and alerted his father, who ran, with arms outstretched, to catch the boy after he bounced off the awning of Le Vincennes. "My son saw a little boy on a balcony. He had gone right outside the railing ... I said to myself I mustn't miss him," local doctor Philippe Bensignor, told reporters. The boy appeared to have no injuries and was brought to a nearby hospital Monday for further observation. "The little boy was fine. He cried a little bit but calmed down straightaway," Bensignor added. The owner of the cafe said that he left the awning open that afternoon by chance, and that he usually rolled it up. "I usually close it to stop it catching fire as people tend to throw their cigarette butts onto it," said the cafe owner to reporters. French police detained the parents of the boy for questioning. "The parents were absent, and it's a bit difficult questioning (the children) given their age," a police spokesman said. Hey, Barron, you’re sired! Donald, Melania welcome baby boy

THE LATEST development in the Trump empire is a bouncing baby billionaire imperially named Barron William Trump. The Donald's first apprentice with his third wife, Melania Knauss Trump, made his debut shortly after 6 a.m. yesterday and weighed in at a healthy 8 1/2 pounds and 21 inches. The name Barron was a "mutual choice by Donald and Melania. They both loved it," a source close to the family said. "Donald just always liked the name." In true Trump form, the macho mogul jumped onto a regular call with MSNBC's "Imus in the Morning" show just 20 minutes after the birth, saying he had a "good excuse" for being late. "Everyone's perfect. It's really great," Trump, 59, told Imus, admitting he was "just outside" the delivery room at the time of the arrival of his fifth child. "I continue to stay young, right? I produce children, I stay young." Melania, 35, delivered the latest Trump scion a week early, the proud papa later told buddy Regis Philbin during a call to "Live with Regis and Kelly." "When I left you, I had no news of this at all," Trump said on the air, referring to last Saturday when both were at the Mar-a-Lago club, a Trump resort in Palm Beach, Fla. Another source said Trump also made time for business yesterday in between visits with the latest addition to his family. "He's been with [Melania] quite a bit. But mother and baby need some rest. So he's in the middle of a meeting," the source said. "Donald and I are very happy and excited. We can't wait to take our new little Trump to his new home," Melania, who spent eight hours in labor, gushed on her Web site. Trump's partner in NBC's "The Apprentice," Mark Burnett, couldn't resist plugging the duo's show as he offered congratulations. "Finally after three years, Donald Trump has a real, true apprentice," Burnett said. The little land Barron is expected to settle comfortably into his new digs at Trump Tower, and then spend a few months bouncing around with his parents. "This summer Continue Reading

Boston baby falls 3 stories, bounces off tarp, worker’s back

A bouncing baby boy survived a three-story fall from a Boston apartment building. The infant caromed off a suspended tarp onto a worker’s back and landed crying but alive on the ground, the surprised tradesman told reporters. “I felt something hit my back,” Pedro Martinez told the Boston Herald. “I turned around, and I saw a baby laying there. Then I heard people on the third floor screaming.” Martinez scooped up the child, who was bleeding a little from the mouth. He eventually handed him off to the baby’s mother, who came running down the stairs, CBS Boston reported. Martinez happened to be working late on Wednesday, repairing a step behind his mother’s home when he was struck by the little bundle from above. The tarp, left over from a cookout, saved the baby’s life, he said. “If it wasn’t for that tarp, he’d be dead,” Martinez told the Boston Herald. “Under that tarp, it was concrete.” The child, believed to be about 15 months old, was rushed to a Boston hospital. The extent of his injuries was unknown. Join the Conversation: Continue Reading
