The British billionaire’s daughter-in-law who killed a top police officer in Belize is breaking her silence to tell the story of how she accidentally shot him—and how she is now locked in a battle to see her own children. “I feel like I’m living in a movie and I don’t know what the endgame is,” Jasmine Hartin , the partner of the son of Lord Michael Ashcroft, told the Daily Mail in her first interview since her arrest. Hartin is charged with manslaughter by negligence in the shooting death of Police Superintendent Henry Jemmott last month—a sensational case that has gripped the Central American country and made headlines around the world. Jemmott’s family has demanded she be charged with murder and suggested she got special treatment because of her connection to Ashcroft, who has extensive business holdings in Belize and is a major backer of the U.K.’s Conservative Party. But Hartin, 32, says the shooting was a pure accident —one sparked by the victim. By … [Read more...] about Lord Ashcroft’s Daughter-in-Law Breaks Silence on Shooting of Belize Cop

CANBERRA, Australia (AP) – The opposition Labor Party appeared more likely than Prime Minister Scott Morrison’s coalition to form government after Australia’s election on Saturday that could result in a rare hung parliament. Centre-left Labor could still form a majority government, based on early vote counting, lawmakers and analysts said. But the coalition’s only hope was to form a minority administration in a hung parliament. “A Labor majority in our own right is, I think it’s very clear, the most likely outcome of this election,” senior Labor lawmaker Chris Bowen told Seven Network Former Defense Minister Chris Pyne, who retired from Morrison’s government in the last election, also ruled out the coalition scoring enough seats to form a majority government. “The coalition can’t get there in its own right, no,” he said. The government was seeking a fourth three-year term. Opposition leader Anthony Albanese’s party ended the six-week campaign as a favourite to win its first … [Read more...] about Left Expected to Oust ‘Right’ in Australia Amid Record Mail-In Votes
