Maybe a bowl of gourmet mac and cheese loaded with brisket or “sweet and sassy” sliders so delicious you can’t eat just two are to your liking. Unbelievably, a restaurant with the word “deli” at the end of its name can adequately quell all three sets of cravings. Schlotzsky’s Deli, with locations in Flowood and Madison, is not your average, run-of-the-mill deli offering boring sandwiches and ho-hum salads. An authentic New York-style pizzeria is being brought to downtown Detroit by business partners who have invested $2 million and promise to serve the best pie in town.Mootz Pizzeria and Bar is scheduled to open sometime in mid-January at 1230 Library St., with a soft opening likely in the beginning of the month, said Tony Sacco, longtime local restaurateur who owns the new eatery with Dean Walters.New York-based pizza chef Bruno DiFabio is leading the kitchen with plans to serve up big, floppy pizzas from a recipe he claims will be completely different than other pizza shops in the market."It's not New York-style pizza — it's authentic New York pizza," he said. Twin brothers Cal and Jackson Todd think they can bring Chattanoogans the best New York-style pizza they have seen yet and add to the growing night-life scene in the North Shore neighborhood. The 23-year-old owners of Pizza Bros at 501 Cherokee Blvd. plan to open their first restaurant venture by the end of this month with no exact date yet. The brothers said they have experience in the restaurant industry with Cal having worked at several different pizzerias in town. Cal and Jackson live in North Chattanooga now, but they were born and raised in Ringgold, Ga. Jackson said they both will be "slinging pies" in the kitchen when they do open. Pizza Bros at 501 Cherokee Blvd. took over part of Sluggo's Vegan Cafe in January and began renovating the space.
