Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders has “nothing” to say about domestic abuse allegations against one of his closest political allies, Minnesota Democratic Rep. Keith Ellison. Ellison, the deputy chair of the Democratic National Committee (DNC), is accused of physically and emotionally abusing his ex-girlfriend, Sierra Club activist Karen Monahan. “Nope, nothing. You’ll excuse me, I’ve got to get going,” Sanders told The Washington Post on Thursday when asked if he has anything to say about the Ellison allegations. Ellison won the party’s nomination for Minnesota attorney general Tuesday despite Monahan’s allegations, which he has repeatedly denied. Sanders campaigned for Ellison in Minnesota in July. Republicans are riding high about their prospects for retaking both chambers of Congress in the upcoming midterms, thanks to the abundant campaign fodder they believe Democrats and the Biden administration have handed them in recent weeks. Conservatives pointed to the surge of migrants at the southern border; difficulties getting kids back in school for in-person learning amid the pandemic; massive spending from the White House and Democratic-controlled Congress; the inclusion of progressive priorities in infrastructure and economic relief bills; and most recently a push among some Democrats to expand the Supreme Court as actions that will offer campaign fodder for Republicans in the months to come. Some GOP lawmakers are gloating over their prospects even though the 2022 midterms are still 19 months away. After multiple women reported that they had been sexually harassed by New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, many Democrats have openly called for his resignation, while other prominent Democratic leaders remained publicly silent on the allegations. Cuomo has been accused of sexual harassment by eight different women , with allegations ranging from inappropriate comments and uncomfortable touching, to reaching under a woman’s blouse and “ aggressively ” groping. The following is a list of statements from notable Democrats who have remained publicly hushed on these allegations — but were openly vocal in condemning Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh — who also faced allegations , albeit more serious ones relating to rape. The list continues with those … [Read more...] about What Did Democrats Hushed On Andrew Cuomo Sexual Harassment Allegations Say About Kavanaugh?
Karen Monahan, the woman who accused Minnesota Democratic Rep. Keith Ellison of domestic abuse, said Monday that the Democratic Party does not believe her. Rep. Brad Wenstrup (R-OH) recently grilled FBI Director Christopher Wray on why — amid a push by Democrats to crack down on “extremism” — the June 14, 2017, shooting of House Minority Whip Steve Scalise (R-LA) that targeted Republicans was never classified as “domestic violent extremism” despite other government agencies doing so. Wenstrup recalled at a House Intelligence Committee hearing Wednesday what he remembered from that morning as Republican members of Congress practiced for the upcoming annual congressional softball game. “The attacker was living in his van near the baseball field, along the third baseline for two months. We know from his social media post that he hated republicans and he hated President Trump. He loved Bernie Sanders and he held left-wing beliefs. We know he carried in his pocket that day a target list with names of Republican congressmen in his pocket that included their physical descriptions,” he said. “Before carrying out his attack, we know that … [Read more...] about Rep.
