SACRAMENTO (CBS San Francisco) — Retail stores in California may be required to maintain gender-neutral sections for clothes, toys and childcare articles under a new proposal from a Bay Area lawmaker. The bill , introduced by Assemblymember Evan Low (D-Campbell), would require retail department stores with 500 or more employees to maintain areas on their sales floor not divided by gender. Low says this stigmatizes children who want to wear or play with something marketed for the opposite sex. We need to let kids be kids.” READ MORE: Education Commissioner … [Read more...] about Bill Would Require California Retailers To Have Gender-Neutral Sections; Violators Face Fines

Sen. Ron Johnson Ronald (Ron) Harold Johnson Senate coronavirus bill delayed until Thursday Democrats cut deals to bolster support for relief bill Senate GOP will force clerks to read bill to delay COVID-19 relief vote MORE (R-Wis.), a staunch Trump ally and fiscal conservative, has told colleagues that he plans to force the Senate clerks to read aloud the entire $1.9 trillion COVID-19 relief bill on the Senate floor, which could slow it down by as much as 10 hours. Democrats on Wednesday were grumbling over the prospect of having to factor an additional 10 hours of floor time into passing the bill. Any senator can force a reading of a bill on the floor, but the formality is almost always skipped by unanimous consent to avoid wasting time. ADVERTISEMENT Now senators will likely have to spend 10 hours listening to the bill be read aloud, which will come on top of the 20 hours of debate time scheduled for the legislation. 14-year-old boy charged with murder in shooting of woman in her SUV on Denver’s West Colfax Avenue
Denver prosecutors charged a 14-year-old boy with first-degree murder Monday, alleging he was the gunman who fired multiple shots into an SUV on West Colfax Avenue last month, striking the driver in the head at least once and killing her. The Denver District Attorney’s Office also charged 18-year-old Neshan Johnson — accused of driving the car the suspected shooter emerged from — with first-degree murder in the Feb. 20 shooting of Pamela Cabriales, 32. Prosecutors did not identify the 14-year-old because he’s a juvenile, though they’ve filed a motion seeking to transfer his case to adult court. According to a probable cause statement , Cabriales was sitting in her 2008 Land Rover SUV on West Colfax at Interstate 25 around 10:45 p.m. when, a witness told police, a suspect standing next to the passenger side of a dark four-door Honda fired a gun six times into the Range Rover before driving away. Cabriales suffered at least one gunshot to the head and was rushed to Denver … [Read more...] about 14-year-old boy charged with murder in shooting of woman in her SUV on Denver’s West Colfax Avenue
