Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor had two words for Sen. Ted Cruz when the GOPer apparently asked to be put on a guest list for a show in Texas this week. "He was bugging to be put on the guest list and I told him to f–k off," the 53-year-old musician told the crowd at a show in Irving on Tuesday, according to a video posted to Reddit. Reznor claimed Cruz attended one of the industrial rock band’s concerts "several years ago." "He drank all the beer and was just a pain in the ass to be around," Reznor said. Video The staff at The Pavilion at Toyota Music Factory also turned up the lights for Reznor so he could check the crowd to see “who voted” for Cruz in the 2018 midterms. Jack Dorsey’s TED Interview and the End of an Era
It all seemed so inevitable: that Jack Dorsey, the C.E.O. and co-founder of Twitter, would appear onstage at last week’s TED ideas conference, in Vancouver; that the conference theme would be “Bigger Than Us,” an ambiguous invocation of either inspiration or fear; that Dorsey, during a session called “Power,” would calmly acknowledge the proliferation of coördinated harassment campaigns, conspiracy theories, and politically motivated misinformation on his company’s platform; that he would speak at length and say nothing new. Dorsey has been on a months-long, semi-apologetic publicity tour. He has met with tech journalists, to promote his company’s shift in focus from growth to “conversation health” (an initiative that has yet to result in concrete changes), and with conservative commentators, to discuss anti-conservative platform bias (the existence of which has not been proved). Throughout, he has taught a sustained master … [Read more...] about Jack Dorsey’s TED Interview and the End of an Era

Ashley Judd it’s ‘fun’ to be badass
Ashley Judd poses on the red carpet. (AP) LOS ANGELES – What’s it like to be a badass? “Well, it’s fun,” actress-singer-activist Ashley Judd told reporters while promoting her role in the Epix Series “Berlin Station" which took place before the actress alleged producer Harvey Weinstein sexually harassed her. It’s “a little scary,” too, she said, “because there are plenty of people who would like to squelch the general badassery of strong women everywhere.” But badassing seems to come naturally to Judd. She’s been a badass for decades. “[I]t is a mantle I assumed as a college student, when a member of the board of trustees said something undeniably racist at a meeting,” the University of Kentucky graduate said. “I felt that his ongoing presence on the board of trustees was inappropriate. And he was a beloved figure.… I learned to put principles above personalities, and the … [Read more...] about Ashley Judd it’s ‘fun’ to be badass
