Darren Cooper North Jersey Record Published 3:55 PM EST Nov 6, 2018 Rick LaForge will enter the Don Bosco Prep wrestling room as the new head coach of the Ironmen, and with a challenge. “We will see if anybody takes me down,” LaForge said with a small laugh. “I challenge them every day. It hasn’t happened yet.” LaForge, a New Jersey state champion at Indian Hills in 2001, has been named the new head coach of the Ironmen, replacing Tom Farinaro. The program has been through a couple of coaching changes the last couple of years, but the 35-year old LaForge said he’s locked in. “That’s my plan,” LaForge said. “I am a Ramsey resident. I have coached a good amount of guys on the team both with Don Bosco and before I was at Don Bosco. Monday was the first day of training camp for Teel and the Ironmen, and an iTunes playlist boomed over the speakers. Teel is in his second season at the helm of one of North Jersey’s premier programs, and clearly the Ironmen are looking for the right beat. You don’t often associate Don Bosco football with defeat, but that was the theme last season. Hard, bitter, defeat. The Ironmen coughed up fourth-quarter leads to Byrnes (SC), St. Joseph Regional and Bergen Catholic (on national television) and slumped to 2-8, their fewest wins since 1994.
