OMAHA, Neb. — To Arshaan and Jahan Adam, their mom is the ultimate superhero.Like Wonder Woman combating super villains, Neena Nizar fights to find a cure for Jansen’s metaphyseal chondrodysplasia, a rare progressive form of dwarfism that afflicts her and the boys. They were diagnosed in 2010.They are three of the fewer than 30 people around the globe who have been diagnosed with Jansen’s, which is caused by a genetic mutation. While Jansen’s isn’t terminal, it comes with chronic pain and has required dozens of corrective surgeries to straighten weak bones that grow in curves. The disease also can lead to kidney problems, caused by the high levels of calcium in the bloodstream.“I know what it’s like to be a child and deal with this disease,” Nizar said in a 2017 interview with The World-Herald. “I don’t want to watch them go through that.
