That means many folks are still wearing warm jackets when they leave the house, and these in-between times call for rather specific outerwear. Namely, pieces that are light enough to wear (or carry with us) by day but are warm enough to slip into as we wait for the check when dining outdoors. Today, for the cost of a plein air dinner (for two), you could scoop up this half-off Outdoor Research puffer, which seems ideal for wearing as winter transitions into early spring. Capable of being packed down into a small zippered pouch, the puffer has a wind- and water-resistant shell stuffed with 650-fill-power goose-down insulation — the same down that goes into North Face’s far pricier Nuptse jacket .
