Rep. Drew Ferguson (R-GA), the House Republican chief deputy whip, told Breitbart News in an exclusive statement Friday that Democrats stuffing the $2.5 trillion coronavirus bill would not garner Republican support for the legislation. President Joe Biden said Friday he expects to get support from Republicans on the American Jobs Plan, or what Ferguson calls “Biden’s so-called infrastructure plan.” Biden said : I think we’re going to be able to get — I’m hoping we will have some bipartisan support across the board. I’ve already spoken to some of my Republican colleagues about dealing with the infrastructure legislation we have up there, as well as other budget items. So we’re going to work on seeing if we can get some bipartisan support across the board here. As the GOP deputy whip, Ferguson is well tapped into the sentiment within the House Republican Conference. Ferguson said the infrastructure bill fails to revitalize America’s infrastructure while funding leftist … [Read more...] about Exclusive – Rep. Ng: In Defense of Clint Eastwood’s ‘Gran Torino,’ Now Under Attack from Left-Wing Cancel Mob
It was only a matter of time before the left-wing cancel mob came for Gran Torino , Clint Eastwood’s 2008 movie about a bigoted retired autoworker and his Asian Hmong neighbors. The racial epithets spewed by protagonist Walt Kowalski are so prolific that it’s hard to imagine the movie being released under today’s ultra-woke Hollywood standards. Anyone who’s seen Gran Torino and has half a brain will easily grasp that the movie is the opposite of racist. After Walt catches Thao, the Hmong teenager next door, trying to steal his cherished 1972 Gran Torino, he puts the boy to work fixing houses around the neighborhood. Walt grudgingly becomes his mentor, his friend, and eventually his father figure. In the end, he makes the ultimate sacrifice to protect Thao and his family from local Hmong gangbangers. None of that matters anymore because Gran Torino is now officially problematic. The wave of physical assaults on Asian Americans has unleashed a woke backlash against the movie … [Read more...] about Ng: In Defense of Clint Eastwood’s ‘Gran Torino,’ Now Under Attack from Left-Wing Cancel Mob
CO2 tax support is based in myth: Taxing essential energy harms more than it helps
Recent media reports lit up with news that the oil and gas industry has agreed to endorse a tax on carbon dioxide emissions. Several weeks ago, the American Petroleum Institute (API), one of the nation’s largest oil and gas trade associations, voted to support the tax as a replacement for current greenhouse gas regulations. Readers should realize that the API’s support for the carbon tax is based on at least four big myths. First, this support for the CO2 tax is based on the questionable notion that American society requires some regulatory motivation to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions. It clearly doesn’t. Even under the Trump administration’s push for energy dominance, the U.S. reduced greenhouse gas (GHG) emission s. Driven largely by electricity producers switching from coal to natural gas, but also magnified by last year’s COVID-19 lockdowns, the U.S. has reduced its CO2 emissions by 24 percent from 2005 levels . While GHG emissions are expected to increase slightly … [Read more...] about CO2 tax support is based in myth: Taxing essential energy harms more than it helps
Democrats see political winner in tax fight
As President Biden Joe Biden Biden taps California workplace safety leader to head up OSHA Romney blasts end of filibuster, expansion of SCOTUS US mulling cash payments to help curb migration MORE races ahead with a mammoth plan to bolster the nation's infrastructure, Democrats are gambling they'll get a political boost from an accompanying proposal: the tax hikes designed to defray the massive costs. Biden on Wednesday outlined a slate of tax reforms aimed at raising $2.5 trillion — much of it from large corporations — to underwrite the new infrastructure spending. The proposal was quickly roasted by Republicans, who have long portrayed Democrats as the party of higher taxes and are now warning that Biden's plan would hurt small businesses and kill American jobs. Yet national polls have consistently revealed that tax hikes on corporations and other wealthy taxpayers enjoy strong support among a broad array of voters, including independents. And some … [Read more...] about Democrats see political winner in tax fight
Did Joe Biden pack the Supreme Court commission to simply fail?
With the establishment of his commission to study the possible packing of the Supreme Court, President Biden has adjoined his name to one of the most inglorious efforts of Franklin Roosevelt. Court packing has long been anathema in the United States, and polls have consistently shown the vast majority of Americans oppose the idea. Biden himself once denounced it as a “boneheaded” idea, but that was back in 1983, when there remained a real space in politics for at least the pretense of principle. Now Biden and others seem to think the Supreme Court must be canceled for its failure to yield to the demands of our age of rage. Many of us were surprised when he pandered to court packing calls in the 2020 primaries. Some of us have called for expanding the court over a lengthy transitional period, but commentators and some Democrats called for an immediate infusion of new justices to give liberals the controlling majority. Unhappy with conservative rulings, Democrats demanded that the … [Read more...] about Did Joe Biden pack the Supreme Court commission to simply fail?
