Ahead of the 78th annual Golden Globe awards, it came to light that the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, which votes for the awards, has no Black voting members. While hosts Tina Fey and Amy Poehler as well as late-night comedians lambasted the HFPA over its lack of Black inclusion, Castro took the HFPA to task for underrepresenting artwork in film and television done by the Latino community in 2020. Police Chase, Stash House Raids, Lead to Arrest of Dozens near Border in Texas
Laredo Sector Border Patrol agents arrested nearly four dozen migrants over the weekend. The arrests came following a police pursuit and raids on two human smuggling stash houses near the Texas border with Mexico. Webb County Constables Office Precinct 2 contacted Laredo South Station officials on the morning of February 26 about a vehicle that failed to yield. When the police pursuit ended, the driver and passengers jumped from the vehicle and fled, according to information obtained from Laredo Sector Border Patrol officials. The constable’s deputy chased down the driver, a U.S. citizen, while the Border Patrol agents rounded up ten illegal aliens, officials stated. The agents reported the migrants entered the U.S. after traveling from Guatemala and Mexico. The deputy arrested the driver and the agents took the migrants to the Laredo South Station for processing under current sector guidelines. DHS: United Nations Facilitating Release of Foreign Nationals into U.S.
The United Nations (U.N.) is bringing foreign nationals to the nation’s southern border for release into the interior of the United States, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) confirmed on Monday. DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas said during a press briefing that “international organizations in Mexico” are helping facilitate the release of thousands of foreign nationals who were enrolled in the Remain in Mexico program. “We have developed a virtual platform that enables individuals with active cases in the Remain in Mexico program to actually register for relief,” Mayorkas said. “[T]he organizations then help transport them safely to the port of entry.” DHS officials did not respond to a request from Breitbart News to provide the number of Remain in Mexico migrants who have been released into the U.S. interior thus far.
