AUGUSTA — Normally, it’s rude to laugh at someone’s misfortune. But an Augusta teen hopes the nation laughs on Sunday night at a painful incident recorded this summer. Benjamin Lucarelli, 17, was at the rope swing at Pinkham Pond in Alna with friends. Lucarelli got a running start toward the pond, holding firmly onto the rope swing, but he never let go. He held on right until he reached dry land – and a tree.“I was on a rope swing and I thought the water was cold and I didn’t let go,” he said Friday. He struck the tree back-first with a loud thud, stopping him in his tracks. A family from Salt Lake City beat the Field family of Orlando to win the grand prize as “America’s Funniest Home Videos” closed its 28th season Sunday night.The winning video was called “Sedated Saber Skirmish” from the Bagley family.The grand prize was a visit for four to the four Walt Disney World theme parks in Central Florida and a five-night stay in a Disney Resort Hotel.So Central Florida was a winner.Toy Story Land, which opens next month, received a big promotional push as the prize was announced on the Disney-owned network.Of course, the Fields can enjoy winning $110,000 on the ABC show to make it into the final two. Families from Lake Mary and Deltona are featured on “America’s Funniest Home Videos” this weekend.Deirdre Beamon of Lake Mary is on the ABC series with her children, Kayson and Kris, and her mom, Linda.Javier Romero of Deltona will be on the long-running show with his wife, Stephanie; his children, Ilyanna and Anthony; and Stephanie’s children, Bryan and Christian.“It was a true blessing for our family,” Stephanie Romero said by email. “We got to be on national TV, plus we got a dream vacation all in the same package.
