“Northern border” House Republican members sent a letter to the Biden administration to raise questions on the “dangerous ramifications” his policies on the southern border have to the northern border. Reps. Elise Stefanik (R-NY) and John Katko (R-NY) pressed the Biden administration on the policies they are using on the U.S.-Mexico border, saying they are “exacerbating the crisis at the Southern Border.” “At 5,525 miles long and with more than 120 ports of entry, the Northern Border constitutes the longest land boundary between two countries in the world,” the Representatives said. The pair of Representatives noted the length of the Canadian border is twice the length of the southern border. The Border Patrol is left with a “dangerously low” amount of staff to patrol the north’s different sectors. They added it is dangerous in the sectors of the border with water, like the waters of Lake Ontario and the St. Lawrence River. The Republicans explained the administration’s … [Read more...] about GOP House Members Blast Biden for ‘Dangerous Ramifications’ on the US-Canada Border

Kristen Clarke Questioned About ‘Defund the Police’ Op-Ed
Kristen Clarke, President Joe Biden’s nominee to serve as assistant attorney general over the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division, faced scrutiny at a hearing on Wednesday for a past op-ed she penned calling to “defund the police” and her unwillingness to recognize justification in some police-involved shootings. Clarke’s controversial opinion piece, titled “ I Prosecuted Police Killings. Defund the Police—But Be Strategic ,” was published by Newsweek in 2020. Republicans at the hearing who intensively questioned Clarke, who now claims she does not want to defund the police, include Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) and Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR). “I do not support defunding the police,” Clarke said in response to a question from Cruz. “The impetus for writing that op-ed was to make clear that I do not support defunding the police.” According to Clarke, her motive was to “channel resources to places such as mental health treatment,” telling the senators she does not “support taking … [Read more...] about Kristen Clarke Questioned About ‘Defund the Police’ Op-Ed

Bill Calling For Expansion Of Supreme Court Slammed As ‘Court Packing’ By Republicans — But What Does That Mean?
(CBS Local)- New legislation introduced on Thursday by a group of House and Senate Democrats calls for an expansion of the United States Supreme Court from the current nine justices to 13. The group says that the Judiciary Act of 2021 will “restore the court’s balance” after former president Donald Trump nominated a replacement for Ruth Bader Ginsburg in September of last year. Republicans, according to CBS News , are expected to “fiercely oppose” the bill, calling out the Democrats for “court packing.” “The Democrats are apparently so drunk with power here in Washington, that they’re going to give it another try and I think that’s really unfortunate,” said Ohio Republican Steve Chabot to CBS News. “I think it could tear this country apart.” READ MORE: Michigan Reports 6,303 New COVID-19 Cases, 112 Deaths Thursday House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy said in a tweet Thursday morning that the bill goes against “everything we believe in as Americans.” Packing the court … [Read more...] about Bill Calling For Expansion Of Supreme Court Slammed As ‘Court Packing’ By Republicans — But What Does That Mean?

After Anti-Defamation League (ADL) head Jonathan Greenblatt called for Fox News host Tucker Carlson’s dismissal after Carlson was falsely accused of antisemitism and defending the white-supremacist “great replacement” theory, the Coalition for Jewish Values (CJV) slammed the ADL for “grossly misplaced charges of antisemitism. ” In a letter published Wednesday and representing over 1,500 “traditional, observant rabbis in American public policy,” CJV — the largest rabbinic public policy organization in America — claimed it was “distressed” by the ADL’s accusations against Carlson. “Your recent attack on Tucker Carlson of Fox News, calling it ‘white supremacist’ to question whether particular policy choices enable illegal immigrants to nullify the votes of American citizens, is merely one example,” the letter reads. A coalition of 1,500 Orthodox Jewish rabbis condemned the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) after it called for Fox News to fire Tucker Carlson/ … [Read more...] about Coalition of 1,500 Rabbis Blasts ADL Call for Tucker Carlson Firing, Ignoring Left Antisemitism
