BOSTON (CBS) — Monday afternoon’s game between the Red Sox and Twins have been postponed. The only early word on the postponement noted that the decision was not made due to weather. Within a half-hour, the Twins released a statement that said the game had been postponed “out of respect” for the fatal shooting that took place in Brooklyn Center — 11 miles from Target Field — on Sunday. MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — The scheduled Monday matchup of the Minnesota Twins and the Boston Red Sox has been postponed following the officer-involved shooting death of Daunte Wright. The game was scheduled for Monday afternoon at 1:10 p.m. As of 1:30 p.m., the game had yet to start. Twins, Wolves, Wild postpone games following police shooting
MINNEAPOLIS — The Minnesota Twins, Minnesota Wild and Minnesota Timberwolves postponed games scheduled for Monday because of safety concerns following the fatal police shooting of a Black man and the potential for unrest in the area. Major League Baseball’s Twins and Boston Red Sox were scheduled to begin a four-game series Monday afternoon at Target Field. The Twins said their decision was made in consultation with Major League Baseball and state and local officials “out of respect for the tragic events that occurred yesterday.” There was no word yet about rescheduling or the status of games set for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
