Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA) is facing backlash after he posted a video on TikTok telling people how to get vaccinated against the coronavirus while standing inside a restaurant that is off limits to everyone else in the California city of Fresno. The video shows Newsom and celebrity chef George Lopez, both wearing masks, in an exchange about coronavirus vaccinations. “How do I find out if I can get a vaccination?” Lopez asks looking into the camera. Then, Newsom says: myturn.ca.gov .” “Wait a minute — thank you governor,” Lopez says. “Wonderful to be of service George,” Newsom adds. It’s hard to pinpoint the moment when the “I’m okay, you’re okay” philosophy of the seventies morphed into the “I’m okay, you’re not” thinking of the present day. Back in the seventies, everyone smoked cigarettes, wore ugly polyester, ate Twinkies, and told cringe-worthy jokes. Nobody was in a position to judge. Now our betters know better how best to behave. Through virtue signaling, shaming, de-platforming, censoring, and outright coercion they intend to make others change their unacceptable views and ways. Take the Healthy Kid Meal Ordinance before the Aurora City Council which would foist new regulations on how restaurants advertise children’s meals, for example. The ordinance would require restaurants to make water or milk the default beverage for kid’s meals. Kids could still order any drink but restaurants could not list such drinks with the meal package. Massachusetts Reopening Plan: COVID Restrictions Loosen Monday, Including Restaurant Capacity
BOSTON (CBS) – Governor Charlie Baker is easing more restrictions as Massachusetts moves forward with Phase 3, Step 2 of its reopening plan. Starting Monday, restaurants will no longer have a percent capacity limit, but social distancing has to remain in place. Musical performances will be allowed starting Monday. Gyms and offices can expand to 50% capacity. Concert halls, theaters and indoor recreational facilities like roller rinks and laser tag can re-open at 50% capacity. Larger venues are capped at 500 people, excluding employees. Gatherings at private homes and backyards remain limited to 10 people inside and 25 outdoors. The City of Boston is holding off on some aspects of re-opening until after St. Patrick’s Day. BROOMFIELD, Colo. (CBS4) – A restaurant in Broomfield and its employees got a massive surprise Friday night. Someone not only picked up all of the patrons’ tabs, but also tipped the staff more than $5,000. (credit: CBS) It happened at the North Side Tavern which just reopened after closing in December. The owner, Steve Bauer, told CBS4’s Conor McCue it wasn’t until about two weeks ago he felt safe enough to hire back staff and welcome customers. Ninety bars and restaurants suing New York state over a coronavirus -related 11 p.m. closing curfew were allowed to stay open until their normal 4 a.m. closing time this weekend after a ruling Saturday night by a state Supreme Court justice. The decision by Justice Timothy Walker, granting a preliminary injunction, took effect immediately, WIVB-TV of Buffalo reported. Steve Cohen, an attorney with law firm Hogan-Willig, which represents the plaintiffs, said the firm’s clients were pleased with the decision.
