SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — On a gorgeous 76-degree day in the desert, Brendan Rodgers sat in the shade, looking fit and relaxed and bubbling with confidence as he discussed the season ahead. “You haven’t seen me, be me. I’m ready to be me and get out there and show people what I’m capable of,” Rodgers said Tuesday after the Rockies’ first full-squad workout of spring training. The Rockies would rejoice should that come to pass. Rodgers, after all, was the third overall pick of the 2015 draft out of Lake Mary High School in Florida. He received a $5.5 million signing bonus at age 18. At the time, Rodgers said he wanted to make the majors by age 21. He almost reached that goal, but so far, he’s been more about potential than performance. Human Smuggler Convoy Ends with 14 Migrants in Custody in California near Border
San Diego Sector Border Patrol agents disrupted a “brazen smuggling event” when they discovered a convoy of six human smuggling vehicles loading a large group of migrants. The smugglers loaded up the migrants after they illegally crossed the border through a compromise in a border wall section. Border Patrol camera operators spotted a large group of migrants on February 20 who illegally entered California by illegally crossing through a compromised section of border wall, according to information obtained from San Diego Sector Border Patrol officials. The operators observed a group of six human smuggling vehicles loading up the migrants just north of the secondary border wall. The smugglers began to flee as Border Patrol agents arrived on the scene. The agents attempted to pursue the fleeing smugglers and observed one of the drivers entering the 905 freeway against the flow of traffic. A divorce court in Beijing ruled that housework "constitutes intangible property value," and ordered a man to pay his wife $7,700 for five years of unpaid labor, according to a report. The BBC reported that the case has been the source of debate on social media sites within the country. The report said that one of the arguments was that the woman —identified only by her surname Wang — was not fairly compensated. Commenters pointed out how maids in the city could demand $50,000 per year for some of the tasks she performed. (The husband also has to pay $309 per month in alimony.)
