Denver prosecutors charged a 14-year-old boy with first-degree murder Monday, alleging he was the gunman who fired multiple shots into an SUV on West Colfax Avenue last month, striking the driver in the head at least once and killing her. The Denver District Attorney’s Office also charged 18-year-old Neshan Johnson — accused of driving the car the suspected shooter emerged from — with first-degree murder in the Feb. 20 shooting of Pamela Cabriales, 32. Prosecutors did not identify the 14-year-old because he’s a juvenile, though they’ve filed a motion seeking to transfer his case to adult court. According to a probable cause statement , Cabriales was sitting in her 2008 Land Rover SUV on West Colfax at Interstate 25 around 10:45 p.m. when, a witness told police, a suspect standing next to the passenger side of a dark four-door Honda fired a gun six times into the Range Rover before driving away. Cabriales suffered at least one gunshot to the head and was rushed to Denver … [Read more...] about 14-year-old boy charged with murder in shooting of woman in her SUV on Denver’s West Colfax Avenue

Supreme Court Justice Richard Gabriel faced harassment accusation while a candidate for Colorado’s high court
A harassment accusation made nearly eight years ago against Colorado Supreme Court Justice Richard Gabriel, then a judge on the state Court of Appeals, by a newly hired law clerk was settled quickly and quietly, according to two people with knowledge of the agreement, essentially ensuring it would not sully his shot at the high court. To safeguard that secrecy, the Colorado Judicial Department had the female appellate law clerk who made the accusation in September 2013 – then a 34-year-old who was a year out of an Ivy League law school – sign a non-disclosure agreement that kept her on the payroll for a year in return for her promise not to sue, the sources confirmed for The Denver Post. The woman claimed the judge and a male law clerk in the court created an uncomfortable work environment for her shortly after her arrival in August 2013, the sources said. Darcy Olsen: The Monster You Know
Posing for a White House Christmas photo, the young Senate staffer in his navy-blue suit looks to be the picture of a conventional D.C. politico. Except for one thing: the young man gets his kicks watching men rape infants. “Babies are some of my biggest turn-ons,” he wrote, according to court documents. “Young rape…I love all that.” In case you missed the story, D.C. Metropolitan police arrested 27-year-old Ruben Verastigui in February on federal child porn charges. The Republican operative stands accused of trading and receiving videos of infant rape and inviting others to join him in Washington to sexually assault kids. I should have told you to brace yourself. But to be honest, I’m tired of soft shoeing around this grotesque violence. We should be shouting it from the rooftops. Pedophilia is a national epidemic. And we should leave no stone unturned in a national, nonpartisan campaign to bring its child victims justice. Like everyone reading this, I’d heard about … [Read more...] about Darcy Olsen: The Monster You Know
