Dave Gettleman passed on the chance to draft a quarterback in 2018, but according to ESPN NFL Draft analyst Mel Kiper Jr., the Giants’ general manager will pull the trigger on the top passer in this April’s . NFL Draft. In version 2.0 of his 2019 first-round Mock Draft, Kiper projects that the Giants will take Ohio State standout Dwayne Haskins with the No. 6 overall pick:With no trades in my Mock Drafts, this is the first logical spot for a quarterback. And Haskins (6-3, 220) is the best quarterback on my board. Easy choice. Yes, he only started 14 games at Ohio State, but he’s a smooth thrower with an extremely high ceiling. Something to note if the Giants trade up to make sure they get their guy: They don’t have a third-round pick after using it on cornerback Sam Beal in last year’s supplemental draft. That means if they give up their second-rounder and future choices to jump a few spots, they won’t be on the clock again until Day 3. This is a huge … [Read more...] about NFL Draft 2019: Giants make ‘easy’ choice in ESPN’s Mel Kiper’s latest mock draft
The Eagles’ secondary is a polarizing group amongst NFL Draft circles. While some view the unit as an area of strength due to the emergence of Rasul Douglas, Cre’Von LeBlanc and Avonte Maddox this past season, others believe the starting talent at cornerback could be upgraded.ESPN’s Mel Kiper falls into the second group. In his latest mock draft, Kiper has the Eagles selecting Clemson cornerback Trayvon Mullen with the 25th overall pick. Here’s his reasoning:“Injuries in the secondary really hurt the Eagles in 2018, as the defense couldn’t match the play that led it a Super Bowl LII victory. And with Ronald Darby possibly leaving in free agency, cornerback is a spot to target here or with one of their two second-round picks. Mullen had an inconsistent 2018 season, but he has some excellent 2017 tape. And at 6-foot-2, 186 pounds, he’s a big corner. He should test well in Indianapolis.”Detroit Lions release Glover Quin | Could he be … [Read more...] about NFL Draft 2019: Eagles target ‘big’ Clemson cornerback in ESPN’s Mel Kiper’s latest 1st-round mock projections
Mel Kiper Jr. is staying consistent when it comes to the Jets.ESPN’s NFL Draft analyst projected that the Jets would select Alabama defensive tackle Quinnen Williams when his first mock draft was released in January. Now, in his second edition, he’s sticking to that game plan for general manager Mike Maccagnan. That said, Kiper did write that the Jets’ plan at No. 3 overall could change, depending on what other teams are willing to do:“The Jets have several needs on both sides of the ball, and they don’t have their extremely valuable second-round pick (No. 34) in this draft as a result of the Sam Darnold trade up last year. I wouldn’t be surprised to see quarterback-needy teams try to trade up to this spot, which would help GM Mike Maccagnan get back some of the capital he lost in 2018. If the Jets stay at No. 3, Williams, a 3-technique penetrator with a high motor and advanced pass-rushing skills, would be a tremendous pick.”If the Jets do … [Read more...] about NFL mock draft 2019: ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr. stays consistent with Jets’ pick in latest projection
Q. I have three separate retirement accounts held at a single brokerage firm. The first is a traditional IRA on which I paid New Jersey tax on my contributions when I made them. I have a rollover IRA which was originally an out-of-state 401(k). I did not pay New Jersey tax on those contributions. Then there's a second rollover IRA that was originally a 457(b) account. Those contributions were taxed when I made them. In 2018 I converted $10,000 from the former 401(k) to a Roth. How do I value the year-end value of the accounts for my tax return? -- Taxpayer A. We're glad to hear you've saved over the years. There are a few items to note. When you take a distribution from an IRA, you must include all IRAs - except Roth IRAs - in the cost basis calculation, said Bernie Kiely, a certified financial planner and certified public accountant with Kiely Capital Management in Morristown.. In your first traditional IRA, you received no New Jersey tax benefits when … [Read more...] about How do I value these IRAs for tax purposes?
