Any time two celebrity chefs get together, it's fair to ask WHAT'S COOKING? Particularly when it's the two celebrities our Tracy Smith found sharing a kitchen: They might be the oddest couple in television: lifestyle queen Martha Stewart and rapper Snoop Dogg. Their VH1 TV show, "Martha and Snoop's Potluck Dinner Party," is in its second season. It's part cooking show, part celebrity talk show, and part happy hour. But it does all seem to work. To watch an excerpt from the Season 2 premiere of "Martha and Snoop's Potluck Dinner Party," click on the video player below: Back in May, Smith went backstage before they taped a New Orleans-themed show. At 76, Stewart is as persnickety as ever, checking every mini king cake and every freshly-shucked oyster. "I always like to come through the kitchen and make sure everybody's happy and doing a good job," she smiled. "It's interesting, because as fun as the show is, as much fun as you guys have, this is serious," said Smith. … [Read more...] about Martha Stewart and Snoop Dogg: TV’s oddest couple
There's probably not a smoother rapper in the land than Snoop Dogg, nor has there likely ever been a better local display of his sly-talking antics than his first of Tuesday's two sold-out shows at the Cabooze. The venue was quite a step down for the Doggfather, but it was a genuine thrill seeing one of hip-hop's more successful performers doing his G-thang in such a small venue. While highlights included "Gin and Juice" and "187," this concert wasn't just an old-school affair. Decked out in sleek shades and a yellow/black hoodie, the charismatic antihero opened with his 2009 rouser "I Wanna Rock" and quickly rolled into "Kush," the lead single from the forthcoming Dr. Dre album "Detox." Weirdly, he never got around to his own new single, "Wet," but he didn't need it to set a libidinous tone for the show. Returning to the stage shirtless mid-show, Snoop delivered some of his sultriest and most overtly horn-dog tunes, including "Sexual Eruption" and "Beautiful." What really set off a … [Read more...] about The Crawl: Snoop Dogg still has the touch
It's 4:20 somewhere Snoop wants to sing at the Prince’s wedding. Snoop Dogg is not your usual royal wedding singer. However the American rapper says he's dedicating his new single, "Wet," to Prince William's bachelor party. The rapper is touting the track on his website and Twitter feed. On Tuesday he tweeted the official royal account, clarencehouse, saying he'd "Made tha anthem 4 Prince William's bachelor party n all bachelor parties round tha wrld." The star also sent tweets to a slew of celebrities — including Oprah Winfrey and Jamie Oliver — urging them to check out the song, and expressed a desire to perform for the prince. William is due to marry Kate Middleton at London's Westminster Abbey on April 29. William's office, St. James's Palace, declined to comment on the song, and said arrangements for any parties would be private. Yeah, that’ll happen. In most cases you’d ask “what is he smoking?” but with Snoop, you … [Read more...] about Snoop wants to work with Prince. Not that one. The other one.
Life imitates art, which was imitating life in the first place. From the Baltimore Sun: More than 30 people, including the actress known as "Snoop" from the Baltimore-based HBO series "The Wire," were arrested Thursday morning across the city and its surrounding counties in connection with a large-scale heroin and marijuana operation. Raids were carried out in the pre-dawn hours by agents from the Drug Enforcement Administration, Baltimore police and a slew of other federal and state law enforcement agencies. Felicia "Snoop" Pearson, known for her drug-assassin character on "The Wire," was taken into custody at a downtown apartment on a state warrant, officials said. The article notes that’s she’s had a “troubled” past, which is one way of putting it. She was convicted of second-degree murder when she was 14. Recently she ordered to testify at a murder trial, refused, and was arrested.
