Providence Place mall on lockdown after report of shooting

The Providence fire department confirmed that a 19-year-old male was shot in the leg and transported from the scene. The injury was non-fatal. The shooting took place on the second floor of the parking garage outside a door to the Nordstrom department store. Advertisement No arrests have been made. Sign up for more newsletters here McKenna Moors, 18, who was in the Cheesecake Factory at the mall when the shooting happened about 5 p.m., told the Globe via Twitter that the restaurant was on lockdown. Moors was there celebrating her friend’s birthday party. “I was so scared,” she said. “Providence Place is cooperating fully with the Providence police department on their investigation,” said Lindsay Kahn, spokewoman for GGP, the retail real estate company that owns Providence Place.
