AMALFI, ITALY - For tourists planning a trip to Italy, the Amalfi Coast has been a dream destination. For decades, visitors from around the world have come to this beach resort to enjoy the view from its spectacular coastline and crystal blue waters, its picturesque towns that dot the coast, the friendliness of the locals and the exquisite food. In the last year, though, the Italian economy has been hard hit by the COVID-19 outbreak with the country’s gross domestic product falling by about $178 million, a drop of 8.9%, according to a report by Legacoop, an association of more than 10,000 companies present throughout the country with activities in all sectors. NEW DELHI - India has become the global hotspot for the COVID-19 pandemic, counting the world’s highest numbers of daily new infections in recent days as it grapples with a second wave of the pandemic weeks after witnessing a dramatic decline. The impact of the swift surge in the virus, in the world’s biggest vaccine maker, will be felt far beyond its shores as India slows vaccine shipments to other countries. COVID-19 In Pittsburgh: Allegheny Co. Health Dept. Reports 372 New Coronavirus Cases, Bringing County Total To 89,917
By: KDKA-TV News Staff PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — The Allegheny County Health Department is reporting 372 new Coronavirus cases and six additional deaths. Of the newly reported cases, the Health Department says 350 are confirmed and 22 are probable cases. The Health Department says new cases range in age from six months to 93 years with a median age of 35 years. The dates of death range from December 14, 2020 through April 7, 2021, and three of the deaths having happened in April. Three of the deaths were associated with a long-term care facility. The COVID-19 related deaths include one person in their 60s, two people in their 80s and three people in their 90s. There have been 6,175 total hospitalizations and 89,917 total coronavirus cases in Allegheny County since the pandemic started. The county-wide death toll stands at 1,813. COVID-19 In Pennsylvania: State Health Department Reports 4,882 New Coronavirus Cases, 40 More Deaths
By: KDKA-TV News Staff HARRISBURG (KDKA) — The Pennsylvania Department of Health is reporting 4,882 new Coronavirus cases and 40 additional deaths. This brings the statewide total to 1,068,974 cases and 25,402 total COVID-19 related deaths since the pandemic began. There are 2,439 people across the state in the hospital with COVID-19 and 496 patients are in ICUs. The state says 6,233,317 vaccine doses have been administered so far, and 2,299,256 people are fully vaccinated. The state Health Department has also announced that all Pennsylvanians will be eligible to schedule vaccination appointments by April 19.
