Warriors escape for a fourth time against young, motivated Sacramento Kings
OAKLAND — On Wednesday afternoon, Sacramento guard Buddy Hield revealed his confidence regarding the possibility of the Kings snapping a 12-year playoff drought this season. “[I’m] very confident,” he said to reporters according to ESPN. “I’d bet my house on it.” Only a few hours later, the Kings would come into Oracle Arena, home of the two-time defending NBA champion Golden State Warriors, and prove their worthiness of more than just a playoff bid. In a 125-123 Warriors win, the Kings showed the top team in the Western Conference just how difficult of an out they could be in a potential playoff series come April. “It really depends on how much his house costs,” Golden State head coach Steve Kerr said jokingly after the game. “I love their team. I love what they’re doing. Every time we play them, it’s high energy, beautiful basketball and they’re tough to guard. They really put pressure on you.” Facing … [Read more...] about Warriors escape for a fourth time against young, motivated Sacramento Kings
Your Chinese New Year Parade traffic and Muni guide
Yes San Francisco it’s that time of year again. Bust out your red envelopes and put your good fortune fruit on display — the annual Chinese New Year Parade is this Saturday. And as it does every year, that means Muni will be rerouted to make way for the parade, and The City has issued traffic advisories for the streets around the daytime Chinatown Community Street fair. The parade kicks off at 5 p.m. this year, and runs until about 9 p.m., but if you’re traveling remember that crowds may form beforehand and take time after the parade to dissipate, which may slow you down. The Chinatown Community Street Fair runs from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m on Saturday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday on Grant Avenue between Clay Street and Broadway. Muni lines will be rerouted for the parade Starting at 2:45 p.m., Mission Street between Beale and Sixth Streets will be transit-only and closed to automobiles until Market Street reopens. The following Muni lines will be rerouted for the … [Read more...] about Your Chinese New Year Parade traffic and Muni guide
Geary Rapid project breaks ground — and in a change for Muni, it’s on time
Van Ness Bus Rapid Transit construction has seen two years of delays. The Central Subway will open in December 2019, a year later than planned. And on, and on, and on. But that’s not the story with Muni’s Geary Rapid project. This month the $35 million Muni project — which will see Geary Boulevard reshaped to make bus-only lanes — quietly broke ground on its first phase, on schedule, to little fanfare. The San Francisco Public Utilities Commission will replace aging water and sewer lines between Masonic and Van Ness Avenues as part of this phase, and other San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency construction is underway between Presidio Avenue and Fillmore Street. SEE RELATED: Geary Bus Rapid Transit gets environmental ‘green light to advance’ from Feds The project, when it is done, will add red transit-only lanes to help speed up the commute of the 54,000 daily riders of the 38-Geary and 38R Geary Rapid. The 38 and 38R are among The … [Read more...] about Geary Rapid project breaks ground — and in a change for Muni, it’s on time
Survivor: Phillies outfielder Roman Quinn rode out Hurricane Michael in his Florida panhandle home
“First, he called me, and then he text[ed] me,” Quinn said. “I’m thinking, ‘What does he want this early in the morning?’ He just kept calling, and I was asleep. I finally answered and said, ‘What’s up man?’ He said, ‘I don’t know if you have any way to get out of there right now, but they’re saying this is going to be a Category 5 hurricane.” … [Read more...] about Survivor: Phillies outfielder Roman Quinn rode out Hurricane Michael in his Florida panhandle home
