Though this book is written for authors looking to advertise their books on Amazon, it is a fascinating read for anyone looking to gain insight as to how some of the "behind the scenes" works on Amazon. Have you ever wondered how the recommendations are populated on your Amazon home page? What about how reviews affect where a product or book shows up? Have you ever been curious about what all those specific categories are about within the kindle store? Authors and non authors alike will learn about how the searching algorithms within Amazon works (but in an easy to understand format).

Maybe you’re an author looking to self promote your latest book. This book is loaded with tips to help you get more reviews and sell more books. The tips actually require some hard work, which is how you know they’re effective (any quick fixes are usually too good to be true). The format is short chapters so is easy to digest in chunks and the tips can be applied immediately. In today’s world, readers (aka your customer base) have a short attention span, and if you don’t catch their eye within the first few seconds, you’ve lost them. On top of that if they don’t even see your book- you don’t even get the opportunity to pitch it.

This book (actually two books bundled) provides tons of contacts and websites to help get your foot in the door in the book and ebook world. With the landscape constantly changing, it is important to note that the author has gone back and updated (as of March 2015)- which means you know you’re getting the most up to date information there is.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Very informative! I just put my first novel on Amazon (ebook) and am using as much of the marketing information as I can from this book. Easy to read. A little confusing at times about what parts are for ebooks and what parts are for print books, but it’s not hard to figure it out. Definitely worth it.

I was excited to find and order this package deal of two books. Being new to the world of "Indie Authors" I knew there was a learning curve for me when it comes to marketing within the amazon paradigm. All of Ms. Sansevieri’s advice in both these books is clear and concise, and I feel I learned a lot of very valuable information that will assist me on my publishing/marketing journey with amazon. My only complaint is the graphics (mostly screen-shots) within the text are absolutely useless as they are so tiny they’re impossible to read, and there’s no way to enlarge them- not that I could find. So in all those instances where the author refers to the graphics and delves into detailed explanations, the reader just has to skim past, missing all that information, which probably amounts to about a third of the whole book. It’s too bad, and if they ever get the formatting figured out so those graphics are readable, I’d love to see what all I missed.

Penny gives a great, easy-to-follow description of how to market your Amazon books. I’ve bought other books in the how to sell books on Amazon category, but her book nails it.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
We live in a very digital age. With this comes the ability to instantly purchase a book from the comfort of our couches. It also means that more people have the ability to publish their books. This new ability is a double-edged sword. With more authors publishing their work, it is easier for your book to become hidden in the lost world of Amazon.
I admit, one of the main reasons I wanted to read Sansevieri’s book is because, I too, wish to dangle my foot in the murky waters of self-publishing. Sansevieri does a wonderful job of helping an unknown, naïve writer navigate the awesome, and overwhelming, world of Amazon. A quick Google search shows that Amazon offers over 200 million products in the United States, with over 800,000 books for sale. That is a huge number of books. As a budding author and Amazon hopeful, this book helps me gain a better understanding of what I am getting myself into.
Sansevieri provides details, and pictures, to hopefuls who want to self-publish. She comes just shy of providing a checklist (which actually would have been amazingly helpful and simple) to follow before finalizing your submission to Amazon. Sansevieri provides a look into the back world of Amazon that I never knew existed.
As a reader, I search for what I am looking for and often find myself pleased with the other books that Amazon recommends. Through Sansevieri’s book, I was able to gain insight into the search and keyword game. When it comes time for me to buckle down and upload my book to Amazon, I know that I will sit with Sansevieri’s ebook close by so I can constantly see what she recommends to do next. The clear and concise directions make even a novice understand the Amazon literary process.
I would recommend this book to anyone who is considering becoming a self-publishing author, or anyone who is thinking about listing their work on Amazon. I’m not sure it would bebeneficial to anyone attempting to sell other products on Amazon, but the basic philosophy might be very similar.
In addition to How to Sell Books by the Truckload on Amazon, I also received How to Get a Truckload of Reviews on Amazon. This smaller book provides readers with ideas and sample letters to receive reviews and market their books on Amazon. Sansevieri points out that just because your book has been uploaded to Amazon doesn’t mean that your work is finished. It is time to move to the marketing of your book and getting it into the hands of readers, especially those who will review it.
This two-part book provides aspiring and seasoned writers more information on how to navigate the ever-evolving and fast-growing market of Amazon self-publishing.

These books are full of fantastic advice, tips, and information for anyone who’s interested in marketing their own book. I’ve read three of Sansevieri’s books now, and I feel so much more knowledgeable and prepared to move forward with publishing and marketing a book of my own. Sansevieri’s writing is so personable. I’ve read a few other books like these, but they were so dry, and I felt bored reading them. Not with these books! I would recommend these books, and any of Sansevieri’s other works, to anyone who’s interested in publishing. I’m so glad I read these books, and I’ll definitely be referencing them more as I begin to move forward with my own publishing endeavors!

I’m quite impressed with this double book (includes How to Get Reviews by the Truckload). It’s a 2013 book, so since Amazon changes their process frequently, some of it may not be available. I don’t know if I’ll end up selling by the truckload, or getting reviews by the truckload, but this is certainly one more source for the eternal search of self-published authors to improve their results.

Author Penny C. Sansevieri has a list of books related to marketing and selling strategies, getting published, getting reviews and generating publicity. These books are good additions to that list. The difference is that this one is specifically geared toward selling on Amazon.com, which Sansevieri says is the marketplace for book sales in today’s world. Everything she recommends doing in the book costs no money, it just takes a little time to set up, research and ultimately, track.

To leverage Amazon’s power most effectively requires a thorough understanding of how the site works. She also says that Amazon operates in much the same way as Google or any other search engine, so she urges authors to embrace the “search-based” mindset. Amazon isn’t just a search engine, though, it’s also a huge retailer and store. Amazon has its own goal of selling as much stuff as possible, so tapping into this mindset can help you achieve your own goal. Amazon achieves its massive sales in part by constantly suggesting other items that the user might like based on what they just finished looking at or what’s in their past search history.

Sansevieri examines the state of publishing in today’s world and examines topics such as the length of your book, bundling it with other titles and collaborating with other authors on bundling. Audio books are also put forth as a way to strengthen what she calls “marketing muscle.” One aspect of marketing that is extremely important in today’s online world is keyword usage. Researching your strong keywords and using them effectively will help you in all of your marketing efforts. Keyword strategy is a huge topic in itself, and Sansevieri devotes the bulk of the first book to this key topic. She examines it effectively, giving a basic overview that everyone can understand and put into practice. She provides resources for researching keywords and how to find the ones that apply to your book topic.

After reading this book, you’ll have a thorough understanding of pricing on Amazon, Amazon’s categories and themes, and boosting pre-order sales. She touches on the Kindle Unlimited program and how to make it work for you. Don’t enroll all of your books in the KU program at once, for instance. She instead recommends, especially if you have a series of books, to include a link, letter or some other blurb directing people to the next book in the series at the end of each book and then rotate your books in and out of the KU program.

She provides some “fun Amazon hacks” that users can implement such as making your headline bold or orange, and she gives a list of free sites that will take your book and add it to their lists and social media tools to use to promote your book. Overall, Sansevieri proves herself to be knowledgeable about marketing in the digital age and if you have a book you want to promote, there is bound to be something in this that will work for you. I received a copy of these books in exchange for an honest review.

The second book is all about getting reviews. She explains why they’re so important and puts forth one important fact: the important thing is not who writes the review but who reads the review. Finding your target audience will go a long way toward making this process effective. Tips such as approaching bloggers about reviewing your book are combined with other less-common approaches such as writing a review request to your readers at the end of your book. The way you write it is important also: You put a lot of work into your book pitch, now you have to put the same amount of work into your review pitch. Why didn’t I have this book around when I was publishing my book? I have bookmarked and highlighted so many parts of this series and am looking forward to putting the suggestions into action. Sansevieri’s book has nothing to do with writing a book but how to market a book and increase your sales especially if you are a self-published author. She gives an incredible amount of suggestions for getting reviews and online sales of both your physical book and ebook.

Very easy to understand and read with lots of examples you can follow directly. She has directions to follow for pre- and post-publication. Don’t be surprised if you highlight almost the entire book like me. If you have any intention of writing a book, get Sansevieri’s book. You will not be disappointed.

The one-star has to do with the formatting. I’m not sure if it’s just not old-fashioned paper white friendly or what, but all of the tips were cut off so I couldn’t read them and the images she uses (which you need to see in order to follow her instructions) were super, super small (with no option to enlarge them). So small, that I couldn’t tell what I was looking at. With these two glitches combined, I found this to be an incredibly frustrating read. I WANTED to learn what she was saying (as she obviously knows what she’s talking about), but I was so lost with not being able to see the images properly or read the tips that I couldn’t follow her. Totally bummed me out.

I was refreshingly surprised at how straight forward and honest this book was. There are no secrets, no hidden ideas that the author is keeping to herself. She truly and honestly put out the best tips for how your book can succeed on Amazon. I really appreciated the length of the book – short and sweet. To the point. With a ‘how to’ book like this, there is no need for ‘fluff’. She told you what to do, exactly how to do it, and it was clear and concise, but also easy to understand and fun. Thanks for the best how to I’ve ever read, Ms. Sansevieri. I received a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

This is the second book by Penny Sansevieri I have read. As I said before she writes in a style that is like having a conversation. The books are to the point and good reads. All the topics she touches are in a order which makes it easier for reader to follow.
What I liked about the books is even if you are a new author or one that just needs to brushing up on things, she can show you how. For example Sansevieri demonstrates how to use Amazon and Good reads to your fullest potential. Her expertise helps authors not to make mistakes and not waste time. Her research shows you how to use keywords and new up to date ways to market your book. One thing I also liked was she provided screen shots of her tips for the reader. She can help you get the results you desire. The book also has a lists of sites you can put your book on for free to get noticed.
The second book shows how to compile quality reviewers ethically without payouts or running contest. These books are must reads for any upcoming author or a struggling one who needs good strong advice on how to market their book. In the books Sansevieri tells you how to put the book in the hands of reviewers who can help you get noticed the most. Both books have a ton of advice that is practical about selling and getting reviews for your book. And how to accomplish this in many different ways. You will get the confidence to be the best promoter of your book. Along with the right people to see your book, she provides you with long-term strategies for optimum book selling. All In all I enjoyed the read and learned important things along the way. That’s all I can ask for.

Penny Sansevieri is a Superstar. She must have been through the trenches in learning how to sell books and she shares her wealth of knowledge in this book. From SEO, collaborating with other authors, audio books and fan engagement, she shares it all in detail. Walking you through keyword research, step by step, she even shares some of the tools she uses. Themes, categories and pricing are explained as well as different techniques for boosting your book sales. There is even a section on creating bestselling book ideas. Explanations on how and why to use the new Kindle Unlimited is even covered. With strategies on boosting traffic, getting URLs, freebies, reviews, etc., every detail in in this book. I’m glad she has already gone before me and made the mistakes so she could share with us this great book on what TO DO in selling your ebook. Thank you Penny for putting this together for us so the path to self-publishing will be a little easier. This book was given to me in exchange for an honest review.

It’s an interesting book that I would recommend to indie authors.

Though much of the book is common knowledge among indie authors I think it is always a good idea to check up on what other experts suggest.
Personally I liked author Penny C. Sansevieri’s elaborations about searching for keywords best. Though I knew about how to search Amazon’s categories, I had never heard of “Übersuggest”. The entire chapter is well researched, excellently illustrated, and very interesting. I believe that the more the Internet advances the more important is all kinds of information about keywords, googling etc. because let’s face it, these processes get more automatized, author need to know how it works.

However, I totally disagree with this author‘s email template for book review requests. Three of four sentences begin with the word “I”, that’s just not good e-mail writing. Also, as an Amazon top reviewer I can say with certainty that no reviewer or blogger cares about the name of the publisher. To any reviewer the most important information is info about the book. The phrase “You can learn more about my book…” is not well chosen. When I receive emails like this I think, “How about you tell me? You are the author. Please don’t make me work.” Authors need to understand the reviewer’s point of you. Top reviewers get anywhere from 1-200 review request per day; they do not have the time to scan between 1-200 webpages to find out what’s special about an author’s book. The author is supposed to tell the reviewer.

Most OUTSTANDING is the chapter “Thank you for reading”. Just today I talked to an author who said, she never thought about that. ‘nuf said, it’s extremely relevant.

Penny C. Sansevieri completes this book with an detailed description of goodreads. Since I keep hearing from authors that they have trouble with goodreads this chapter may be among the most valuable in this book.

The book contains also a very nice directory of websites where authors can post their books. Though not all genres are covered I think it’s very well done.

Though every author already knows that doing everything that’s mentioned in this book won’t turn your book into a 24/7 sales machine, every author should do all of the mentioned or his/her book will be buried among the millions of other eBooks, completely. Definitively recommended.

This is a book that will be constantly used as a reference. I learned a great deal about the importance and use of keywords. The strategies are something I was unaware of. I also, was one who ignored the use of metadata. I learned how helpful it can be. I learned how to monitor my keywords. The book is filled with great information. All in all this is a very helpful book. I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review.

Having just published my 8th book, I was really hoping to avoid the mistakes of the past. However there are two distinct ways of learning. The first is to avoid what you did wrong but the second and perhaps more important is to explore new ways to sell. That is why I purchased Penny Sansevieri’s work ‘How to sell books by the truckload.’ This tiny e-book is packed with information that is invaluable to new authors. Being a bit of a veteran in the publishing landscape I already knew about half the tips presented but there were so many more that were new to me. The way I see it, if you buy a cheap e-book and get one really solid, workable idea then it was worth the purchase. In this case I probably got ten solid ideas that I immediately put into practice.

As for my sales since using these ideas? Let’s just say that I’m reaching a wider audience than I had previously considered. Just the list of websites that allow for free listings of your e-book can open you up to a whole new world of readers. Thank you Penny!

Decent information, but Truckloads of sales from it? No. These books DO seem to be selling truckloads of their own copies however. Exactly how is not within these pages. The books do deliver solid intro to book marketing stuff. If you need that, they are worth reading. But if you are an established kindle author looking to get the ranking and sales this twin-pack of brief books looks to be pulling down somehow, better to spend your time sending out tweets, IMHO.

It’s not all new and unique, however, that is not a criticism, merely an observation, and the e-books do present approaches and insights that were new to me. Absolutely in the TOP 5 out of dozens of books that I’ve read in efforts to market my wife’s children’s books. The many sales avenues explained in \\”Get More Sales on Amazon.com\\” are VITAL for anyone writing or marketing books on Amazon and beyond. I’m doing most of the marketing for Mary and I’m new at selling items like books. After absorbing the exhaustive information on Amazon search algorithms, SEO’s, ways to categorize books, finding off site listing options, utilization of Goodreads to maximum effectiveness, etc., – – I delved into the treasures of the second book entitled How to Get Reviews by the Truckload. The advice and information on obtaining reviews to enhance new book sales will be extremely beneficial in my marketing efforts and was a catalyst for me to search for even more information on obtaining reviews. Penny’s information packed books will also help me when I begin to write some planned non-fiction books. FIVE STARS

These books always fail to deliver what they say they will, and this one is not the exception.

Penny gave me some great ideas. Unlike most marketing books, the advice here is very actionable. I recommend that any author should read this.

Shorter than the double hardback graphic implies. I found volume one helpful, but volume two, with its focus on physical books, was not useful to me.

Love it! I’ve followed Penny for the past few weeks, and she’s amazing!

I saw one of her webinars through the IBPA, became a fan, and started following her techniques. Long story short, marketing is difficult – but I’ve found if I just ‘do what Penny says’ – it gets me off to a great start.

This was a quick read with good information. With two books for the price of one, it was an amazing value. I recommend this for new and seasoned authors who want to sell more books.

This book is full of useful information on how to exploit the Amazon algorithms, especially your key-words, and on how to elicit reviews from readers. If you are an author who didn’t know that key-words and reviews are the secret of selling, you definitely need to read this book.

I gave four stars instead of five because this book is not unique in the genre. If you already own a similar book that has served you well, this one won’t add much. But if you have never read a book of this type, definitely buy this one.

Very helpful; very simple to follow! I’m technically challenged, and was frozen with terror about marketing my book. Penny lays everything out simply, with no nonsense. Perfect for writers who want to get this done and go back to writing!

Two of the best "How to" books that I have read. Intensely practical and with all the links and tips needed to follow this author’s invaluable advice.

I read the first of these books and employed every new idea I found. I’ve been researching this area for a while and experimenting, so there were not that many new ideas for me. However, the ones I did use have made no difference to my sales. The one "big" thing I learned was that we authors all have a separate UK authors page on Amazon. I hadn’t known that, and so I hadn’t set it up. So, now I’ve done that. Even thought I had a sale in the UK, it had come through Amazon.us and so it wasn’t showing on my UK page and still isn’t. But, now I know, at least.

This is a book that I will keep at the top of my list for further references. It is invaluable for any indie author (or anyone) trying to get your books seen on Amazon.

It flows well and was easy to read, a lot of helpful tips and things I didn’t know about Amazon’s internal workings. I’m following your suggestions so I’ll let you know soon how it works

I am marketing my book right now and Penny’s comments are right on the money. I have more confidence in my program following her marketing observations and recommendations. I should have bought this one earlier

Selling books on Amazon can be intimidating but Sansevieri makes it understandable and gives a clear road to begin and finish selling books.
