To my many friends, both known and unknown, wherever you may be, I submit these thoughts for your consideration. If you disagree with my claim that Mr. Matthew Yglesias’s smear tactics are uniformly riddled by an unbelievable degree of ignorance, then read no further. If it weren’t for Mr. Yglesias’s double standards he would have no standards at all. Hence, it’s utterly a waste of time even to address Mr. Yglesias’s hypocrisy. That’s why I’ll state merely that the scantiness of his abstract knowledge directs his sentiments more to the world of demagogism. Am I being unduly harsh for writing that? I think not. When the religious leaders in Jesus’s time were wrong, Jesus denounced them in extremely harsh terms. So why shouldn’t I, too, use extremely harsh terms to indicate that I’ve catalogued all of Mr. Yglesias’s foibles–and the list is pretty big?
Naturally, Mr. Yglesias has been doing \\”in-depth research\\” (whatever he thinks that means) to prove that his ventures epitomize wholesome family entertainment. I should mention that I’ve been doing some research of my own. So far, I’ve \\”discovered\\” that Mr. Yglesias has made it known that he fully intends to teach our children a version of history that is not only skewed, distorted, and wrong but dangerously so. If those words don’t scare you, nothing will. If they are not a clear warning, I don’t know what could be.
I have no problem with the manifestly obvious statement that to deny this is to deny science, let alone the evidence of one’s own powers of observation. I have no problem with the idea that Mr. Yglesias’s hangers-on have coordinated their propaganda efforts into a superbly-wrought symphony of hatred and destruction. And I have no problem with the special privileges occasionally granted to the most incompetent criticasters I’ve ever seen. What I do have a problem with are Mr. Yglesias’s uppity obiter dicta. The point is that most people aren’t willing to swallow what Mr. Yglesias is serving up: a triple scoop of obnoxious sprinkled with obnoxious and topped off with warm obnoxious sauce. It would be grossly premature for Mr. Yglesias to claim final victory. Some people might object to that claim, and if they do, my response is: With Mr. Yglesias so forcefully demanding special treatment that, in many cases, borders on the ridiculous, things are starting to come to a head. That’s why we must complain about snotty spongers. I have one final message for you before ending this letter: Mr. Matthew Yglesias’s bruta fulmina are merely a fig leaf that hides his efforts to create a new fundamentalism based not on religion but on an orthodoxy of priggism.
